| I am wondering if there are any disadvantages to using a recruiter to get a public school position. I have heard that if you go through GEPIK/SMOE directly you would be able to negotiate a better salary. Does anyone know if there is a difference when using a recruiter and not using a recruiter, whether it be salary, vacation time, etc. Thank you. |

| The salaries are set by SMOE and GEPIK (EPIK too). They depend on your qualifications, not how you apply to the program. You might get a better salary is applying directly to the school, but you need to be in Korea for that. |

the only real difference is that you MIGHT know where you are going before you get here.
some recruiters work directly for the program (GEPIK for example) and some work for a specific school. Those working for a specific school as a one-off recruitment will know where you are going.
Public school salaries and benefits are on a standard scale. |

| Go to the SMOE ETIS website and look at how to apply. You must go through a recruiter they have listed. |

The GEPIK guy I have been working with has told me the location (and age range) of the school. Is that unusual? |

| When does he want you to start? There is a shortage of teachers so some schools didn't get teachers in March when the school year started. You're probably headed to a school who didn't receive a teacher or had a runner. |
