I'm looking to buy a desktop in the next couple of days.

I'm not a gamer.

I'm looking for a pretty basic system: duo core, 160 hdd, 1 or 2 gigs memory, basic 128 or 256 meg graphics card, 17 or 19 inch lcd.

How much do you think I should be paying for such a system?

edit: I'm totally out of date as to what intel chips are out. Which chips should I be looking at?

Entry level, non-gaming system with your guidelines will run between 250-350k for the tower, mouse and keyboard.

Monitors from 150k+.

Best deals are at the son-in-plaza at yongsan (the place with the big gigabyte sign on it.

You can get OK deals at the terminal building (the big blue one across the rail yard from Yongsan station).

If you can't be bothered to walk that far you can get it upstairs at Yongsan station for about 20% more than across the yard.

500k + the monitor gets you into a pretty decent midrange system.

800k + monitor will get you into a higher end quad core system.

I got a PC last week.
Intel e2180
2GB Ram
500GB Hard Drive
DVD RW
8500GT (basic graphics card)
Case
PSU

And it was 420,000. 1GB RAM instead of 2GB would be about 20,000 cheaper. 160GB HD instead of 500 would be about 50,000 less. I paid 60-70,000 for that graphics card basically because I wanted Component TV out so I could connect it to my TV. If you don't need that you can get the base without the monitor for maybe 250.

Instead of a DVD RW, could you have put in a Blu-Ray? How much more?

The cheapest Blu-ray drive is by LG for about 315,000 or so. That's a bit too much for me right now. Wait til they drop in price.
