Two incidents:
Sitting in my office yesterday, and a student came in to talk to my officemate. They were discussing the class and the upcoming oral midterm. The student is REALLY not going to do well, but the conficence he had was pretty high. Just before he leaves, he says (obviously memorized) "The word impossible is not in my dictionary!" Under his breath and barely audible, my officemate says "It's there between imbecile and impotent."
Today, I was checking my website. I have a forum for students to post to and talk to each other in English. It's VERY well used; more than 200 threads already this semester. Anyway, one students posts how she lost her key, and now she can't get in her apartment. She says "My boyfriend have another key. I must wait him." Another student, one of the few ajummas I've taught at the uni level replies to the OP and says "I don't understand why do your boyfriend have the key of your house?"  BUSTED!
As for the Mountain Dew... that was what happened when reading the website postings. No MD was abused in such a manner during the first incident. |
