Just wondering if anyone wanted to get together to watch the fights this Sunday? While nothing can be proven, it is alleged that a few greenbacks may have been exchanged in prognostication gone awry at UFC 82. The Wolfhound in Itaewon played that- it started around 11:30 and ended around 2 - this one is likely the same.

Or, if you can't make it but have established soothsaying skills, pick the winners here and I will be sure to co-opt your picks on the big day. Last time I think I picked 3 of 8 right. The humanity...

The card:
Serra vs St. Pierre
Franklin vs Lutter
Starnes vs Quarry
Bisping vs McCarthy
Danzig vs Bocek
Macdonald vs Doerksen
Delcher vs Day
Stout vs Clementi
Goulet vs Hironaka
Morris vs Velasquez
Herman vs Maia

Have 3, maybe 4 people so far. No more MMA fans around?

It looks like a good card, and a lot of the matches could go either way.

So, I'll use a methodical approach in making my selections (I'll alternate between the right and left columns...)

My picks:

St. Pierre, Franklin, Quarry, Bisping, Bocek, Macdonald, Day, Stout, Hiranda, Morris, and Maia.

Here's a head's up to boxing fans - SBS sports is showing the Joe Calzaghe - Bernard Hopkins championship fight live - they've just finished one of the prelims, so I'll be switching back-and-forth with the UFC (though I don't want to miss any of the boxing main event ...)

OK - it's 11:15, and they're just about to ring the bell for round one. Although Calzaghe is a pretty big betting favorite (because of his fast combinations, undefeated record, and the fact that Hopkins is 43 years old) I think it'll be a close fight that Hopkins should win because of superior power - and dirtiness...)

Alright, the boxing's over - Calzaghe was awarded a questionably lop-sided split-decision - he landed more punches (and the most damaging low blows) but Hopkins landed the heavier shots and knocked him down in the first round...

The UFC main event between George St. Pierre and Matt Serra (who scored a stunning KO over GSP in a huge upset) is about to start (at 1:12pm) I pick St. Pierre, but he could get in trouble and lose again if he gets too emotional and departs from a good game plan...)

Well, his game plan was executed extremely well, as he pretty much dominated the fight. Although there was a lot of trash talk leading up to it, both fighters displayed good sportsmanship after it was over - and St. Pierre told the partisan Montreal crowd to not disrespect (or attack) Serra because all the trash talk was just meant to hype the fight.

So, they ended up cheering the guy they wanted to destroy a few minutes earlier.

The fights were not too bad. Fight of the night:

I've never laughed so hard at a 'fight'.

Donkey Beer that fight was terrible but those parts were good. Amazing how the 'home town' crowd turned on the Canadian.

Sorry, but I lost interest in the UFC not long after it started. 83 huh, whew where has time gone? Grappling is fun to do but it's boring to watch.

The Starnes fight was the best for me because it was such a laughable display. I never imagined that anyone would retreat for a full 15 minutes in the Octagon. It's too bad the UFC doesn't use yellow cards like Pride did.

Some other great moments:

It seemed to be the night of the knee.
