Sorry guys, I know that this is not after dinner conversation, but I
just got the diagnoses last week.
Its hard to say whether its easier or harder to go through this $hit in Korea, but I know its gonna be almost impossible to find any of the recommended health suppliments (eg/lysine?).
I would kill to find just one other person whose in the same boat. |

| Ummmm...aren't there many different types of herpes? Which complex do you speak of OP? I vote a resounding "no" for me to any of them. Who knows though; I haven't been tested, but why would I without any outbreaks? |

My understanding is that herpes can last asymptomatically for many years, if not decades.
Further, the tests are not at present very good.
So all those who answered in the negative should not assume they dont have it.

Looks like I was wrong, there are good tests, but they are just too expensive to use.

You've been in Korea a few years, surely you've been in a social situation in which it would be awfully rude to NOT share a soju glass? It happened to me a LOT my first couple of years in Korea. Not so much in Seoul though.. maybe not sharing soju glasses is a Seoul thing.
Unless you were talking about physically sparkling poet13s ass. In which case, I don't know who does that. |

I think you can get lysine. I believe I've seen it. Go to a GNC store. Anyway, do you have an e-bay account? If so, you could order lysine if the GNC places don't carry it. I believe there are other supplements you probably can find on that auction site for dealing with your problem, so don't be disheartened. I am sorry you are going through this. I a m pretty sure I saw lysine in Korea. I am not interested in lysine, I am interested in tyrosine, but I thought I would let you know I saw it. Anyway, it is easy to feel emotional about this and feel isolated. It's understandable. I hope this helps. Go to a GNC store. Anyway, check out the link below.

recommended health suppliments?
what will they do for you? I once thought I had it, it turned out to be something else, but in my sheer panic, I read up on everything possible related to the subject.
first of all, what you face now are outbreaks and their frequency/severity.
Both of these will decrease with passage of time.
just get some acyclovir for when the outbreak occurs, it will speed its passage and lessen its severity.
or, you can also basically start a regular "suppression" regimen, by taking acyclovir or one of its stronger/better cousins (but far more expensive) to essentially suppress your outbreaks and or limit them.
a suppression regime is also supposed to take care of 96% of asymptomatic shedding, so this way you won't have to worry about spreading your little "gift". |

| People can generally suppress the symptoms from what I heard. You may not be able to get all the supplements you want in Korea except maybe for the lysine which I saw at GNC, but you can order supplements off the web if you have a credit card or paypal. The OP shouldn't fall into major despair. It's understandable if she feels horrible. |
