tried the search function but seems to not work for me.
as the title states, i'm looking for a recommendation for a book.
the students are beginner but wish to learn conversation.
are there such books that have a little bit of everything? such as, reading, writing, grammar, and conversation??
i'm not really looking a book that covers just conversation.
what do you use?
it is for a group class at a company, student levels vary from student to student.
thanks in advance |

By 'Company' I'm assuming they're adults.
This might give you a few ideas.
It's really good value (282 pages) and you can pull lessons straight out of it in about 30 seconds flat with minimal (zeroxing excluded) prepping. Every lesson has plenty of pictures which will stimulate the visual orientated learners and it has reasonably good dialogues for your auditory learners etc. Furthermore, there are plenty of role play opportunities for your kinesthetically geared students. Writing is catered for, but as you've stipulated 'conversation' you probably wont need to address it at this level. Key vocab is introduced reasonably comprehensively on every page, although it's American English, which may or may not be a problem for you. As for grammar, there isn't anything explicit so you'll have to introduce it on the hoof as it arises and correct etc as your learners progress.
All in all, it's proved to be a useful lifesaver for me although, some of the topics are rather rudimentary which requires a degree of imagination on teachers part to bring them to life, but for around 20,000 won (Kyobo bookstores stock it), you wont go wrong. Additionally, there's a book 1 also if this proves too demanding. |
