I gave my family my school's mailing address here in Busan - the one that was printed on my contract. It turns out that the contract address had a horrifically wrong mispelling of the neighborhood (tsu-oup dong instead of cho-eup dong). Everything else in the address is correct besides that, including the post code.

Some things were sent to me over a month ago, and I have not yet received them, not have the people who sent them to me gotten them back. Are they at some Korea Post office? Are they on their way back to Canada on the super-slow boat? Help!

If they had a return address AND were labeled for return if undeliverable then they should be on the slow boat back to Canada.

If not, then it will be dead lettered and I have no idea how to recover it.

You can try to e-mail Korea post from their website:
( http://www.koreapost.go.kr/eng/index.jsp ) or you could ask a Korean speaker (if you have any Korean friends) to assist you at the MAIN post office in your GU.

You would probably just get blank stares from the counter staff at the small dong-sized postal offices.

Yes, I am.

Even boxes with the correct address on them, even boxes that were insured when they were shipped from the US, if they don't show up, they will never be seen again.

Best of luck to you.

Oh boy. Looks like I'm out at least $100 if that's true. Thanks Korea Post.

Last year my mother sent me two Ralph Lauren blazers. Inside the box, she included a letter (the letter was addressed correctly but had no postage).

To save money on import duty tax, she wrote "old clothes" on the packing slip description.

The box was correctly addressed.

About three weeks later, I get the letter with no postage on it, minus the box with the two blazers.

Korea postal!
