1. Being treated like a piece of utter sh!t...
2. Being cheated and overcharged for the most basic items...
3. Being called a "foreigner" even if you've live in Korea for almost a decade and speak the language FLUENTLY...
4. Being asked AGAIN and AGAIN why the fu<k they are in Korea in the first place..
5. Being asked AGAIN and AGAIN if their desire to bang Korean girls is the sole resaon they're in Korea.
6. Being asked AGAIN and AGAIN if they couldn't get a "REAL" job back home is the reason they're in Korea.
7. Being asked AGAIN and AGAIN if they have any friends.

Good
*The fact that girls just come up to me, call me handsome and give me their phone numbers. (Back home I had to do a bit of work at least)
*I can make almost any mistake, shrug my shoulders, and they don't care
*Not pay for tons of meals

Bad
*Have to either share a girl with their "Korean" boyfriend or marry her (there seems to be little gray area there)
*Have people literally look at me and move to a different seat when they see who I am, and I do not stink Smile
*Always have to worry about my contract, and will it be fulfilled (even with a good boss and job)

There are more. In the end, I found the bad got on my nerves more than the good helped out, so I am leaving. I have been in Japan and China, so I can compare too, which might have affected my decision.

i overlook those around me who are forever impressed because they thought korean food was too spicy and soju too strong for westerners.

couldn't give a shit about korean girls because i dont want to be stabbed in my sleep, but i do have an incredible circle of friends who make it all worthwhile. in the USA, my friends are total bullshit. oh and the money helps.

You must either be exceptionally good looking or there's a mysterious 'x' factor at work, because not only has it never happened to me, but I've never even heard of this happening to anyone, ever.

Hope you're making the most of it Cool

I think this guy should be ridiculously good looking. are you a super star or something ? girls come up to him in the street and say 'wow you are so handsome, I'll give you my phone number'
I can't stop laughing to see his remarks.

I'm not exceptional. I am good looking and well built, and I have a nice smile apparently, but I would not classify myself as handsome and nowhere near hot. Maybe I just know the right places to go Smile It's not like it happens everyday, but enough that it cuts down on the work.

that's why you're posting on a internet message board at 10pm on a Friday night... Laughing

Wow, quite the detective work there. Heaven forbid I'm with my girlfriend at home and not out partying. Like I said, I'm nothing special, but if you know what to do and how to talk to people, you'd be quite surprised. But I have watched some of you guys talking to girls (most likely on first dates) in Starbucks, or at the bar, and man, I have no idea how the girl even bothers... Here's tip number one for many of you, listen to them. You have no idea how much that works...

There is no way I can prove it, nor do I need to. I didn't harp on just that, it's one of the nice things *I* have come across in Korea. Just because you haven't does not mean anything. Have you never had a girl come up to you, even in a bar, and give you her number?

"DCJames"1. Being treated like a piece of utter sh!t...

More often than not, I'm given special treatment, and usually better than the average Korean is treated.

2. Being cheated and overcharged for the most basic items...

E-Mart overcharges you? Family Mart overcharges you? The Druggist overcharges you? what "basic items" are you referring to?

3. Being called a "foreigner" even if you've live in Korea for almost a decade and speak the language FLUENTLY...

You are a foreigner, unless you're Korean. Why is that difficult to grasp?

Quote:
4. Being asked AGAIN and AGAIN why the fu<k they are in Korea in the first place..

Maybe that's because you give off a "I hate this place" vibe, or you say it out loud all the time. Do you?

Quote:
5. Being asked AGAIN and AGAIN if their desire to bang Korean girls is the sole reason they're in Korea.

What kind of people are you talking to?

Quote:
6. Being asked AGAIN and AGAIN if they couldn't get a "REAL" job back home is the reason they're in Korea.

I would laugh and tell them I make twice as much as them, and watch their face turn red because they know it's true. Then I would rub it in their face that when I return home, I will live in a place with clean air, free health care, jobs for the picking, and good opportunities for my English-speaking children. But, I honestly can't remember the last time someone said that to me, if ever.

7. Being asked AGAIN and AGAIN if they have any friends.

Huh? Really, why would they ask that?
