Not sure exactly, there are lots of cool things this country has, it just depends on what your into.

I alsways take a few bottles of soju back with me to divvy up with family and friends, but it's not a MUST item. There are no MUST items, IMO. Coming back is another story... I fill up a suitcase with stuff I can't get here.

a small drying rack - handy for just stuff that needs to be hand washed and laid flat, like sweaters

people back home say they've seen them from time to time - IMO, these would be a big export item don't know why someone doesn't try it.

yeah, the pottery is nice, I have a good selection, but it's cheaper to buy in local places Insadong is WAY overpriced

you might want some traditional K music - that's nice to listen to

*also* my first elem school - they played K children's songs in the morning on the loudspeakers, I just loved hearing them - they made me 2 cds of the music, can't understand it but it's children singing and it's really pretty

I went on a stainless steel cookware/kitchenware binge at EMart and Hyundai dept stores. Best thing I brought home. Quality stainless stuff which is a less expensive than the thin crap in NA.

Ceramics are usually a good bet: soup and rice bowls, cups, tea sets, rice wine sets, vases etc... whatever you think is nice. If you do a little looking and negotiating, you can get some great deals, too!

Score your pots and pans there as they're better than here in the states.

Korean celedon. Masks, paperwork and Korean boxes.

World cup stuff if you can still find it.

Chopstick/spoon sets. We bought all they had at one shop(6 boxes of four) for 12,000 won a set. Retail was 87,000 per set as the manufacturers price memo was in each box.

Korean blankets are a great choice.

Korean made Fender guitars if you can find them. Excellent sound, quality and becoming collectible.

Korean needlepoint/calligraphy in glass frames if you see these thrown out on the sidewalk. We got a couple of really nice tiger needlepoint portraits.

-ceramics (go to icheon, it's worth it)
-hanji
-lamp(s) (the hanji ones)
-leather jacket(s) from itaewon. quality is superior to NA and much
cheaper...
-Korean traditional bedding - you can buy just the silk embroidered
blanket covers in Dongdaemun. They sell doubles off the shelf, but you
can order queen and king sizes made.
-a Korean patchwork wall hanging
-a piece of art
-chagye (mother of pearl inlaid boxes/plates/pieces)
