Are nice designer jeans (like Joe's, Sevens, Rock & Republic, etc.) available to buy in Korea? I saw my boss wearing a pair of Sevens and tried to ask her where she got them but she either didn't understand me or didn't want to answer... Has anyone bought any? If you have, please share where to find them! I regret not bringing more jeans with me to Korea. THank you! |

You can buy them at the department stores but be prepared for sticker shock. A few months ago, my friend bought a pair of jeans from Rock & Republic at Hyundai Department Store for 440,000 won. They retail for about $265 back in the U.S.
I like to wear raw denim from APC. They retail for about $125 in the U.S. but they're 200,000 won at the Galleria department store in Apgujeong.
What I recommend is that you buy jeans online. What I like to do is try jeans on at the department store to see if they look good and then order them online. You might get hit with import duty, though. |

For a North American fit I used to buy my jeans at the Harley Davidson store in Itaewon. Good quality jean material too. |

I buy my jeans at emart and homeplus, and sometimes uniqulo. no one can tell the difference between these and the designer stuff.
yesterday I bought two pairs at home plus ....one was 8,000 won and one was 12,000 won. They're nice dark wash, no sequins, good fit. |

haha, 'no sequins'...yah I definitely don't want jeans with sequins!
I'm not against cheap jeans. One of my favorite pairs was only 19$ from Old Navy. But there is something amazing feeling about a really nice pair of designer jeans. I like to wear both.
Thanks for the input! |

Someone who is "in to" denim will tell but if you don't care, more power to you. I do think Uniqlo does provide good denim at good prices. You can even get selvedge denim at Uniqlo for a fraction of the price "designers" sell them for. |

Why would he spent $265 for jeans, much less $440???? Why??!
He's either an idiot or rich.. but i think i'm gonna go with the former. |

Sevens in Korea..02-820-2581.
Japan produces some great jeans, so I would just wait and take a weekend shopping trip there, especially for jeans like Prps by Akademiks. PRPS jeans are manufactured in Japan, unlike other jeans which are mostly manufactured in China. I've been told that the Japenese use looms from the 1960s to make their jeans.

Well, my friend is a she and her parents are quite rich. She gets a monthly allowance of 5 million won. She could also be an idiot but I can't give you a definite answer on that.
I don't think someone who spends $265 on jeans is stupid. Sometimes you're buying for a brand but sometimes, you're paying for excellent quality denim that is well constructed. I like APC jeans because they offer good denim at a good price ($140) but I do have a pair of Kicking Mule's that I paid over $200 for.
I have to agree that the Japanese tend to make the best denim. |

Exactly. Prps spends about 100 bucks plus to manufacture jeans. After all the costs, they're not making a killing. It just all depends on how seriously you care about the clothes that you wear. Some people are ok with wearing 40 dollar pants, some people like the feel of more expensive and better quality clothing. It's a matter of choice. I don't think it's horrible to have one or two pairs of quality jeans. Levi's also has a limited number of jeans that they manufacture on looms in NC I believe - which are in the 100 dollar plus range. I've got a brand new pair of Capital E Levi Hesher Straight Jeans that cost me around 200 bucks. |

i like to wear $798 jeans by LOOFTM
they are hand-woven by poor people on 17th century " broken-slate looms" located in a saltmine (in a secret location in bulgaria) for superior weave stability.
the rivets and fixings are actually a quartz- titanium metal hybrid built by TAGheuerTM under controlled conditions.
the back patch and graphic is crafted from a fragment of an original keith haring screen print, ripped up by a Detroit crack-whor8 in 1998.
the stitching is bright red and yellow,of course, and irregular as hell,as it is done by blind people.
the jeans are then distressed by being worn by wild dogs for exactly a fortnight.
it makes them seem more macho, mysterious, and smelly.
they are come in a limited edition of only 99 pairs:
49 pairs were released to an "unmarked" Tokyo store, painted black with black fittings and black assitants who only accept the AMERICAN EXPRESSTM black card.
50 pairs were released to a vastly over publicised Seoul outlet, painted white and covered withLOOFTMlogos and associated konglish branding gibberish 99meters high, only accepting cash or the samsung cardTM.
there is a waiting list of 7 years.
and dannykim80 wants em so bad,it hurts. |

Yeah, designer stuff here is...ridiculous. I like the outerwear by Juicy Couture (not that terry sh*t) but one of their fall tweed jackets was about $500 here!! Insane--no way. For jeans, I've actually gotten some good ones from Maru that were on sale for $29. The ones at Uniqlo just fit strange on my body. |
