Go to a KEB bank. More often than not they'll have one machine that says "Foreign Card Acceptable" on the screen. I use it to withdraw money from my Switch Card. Even in my small town of 30 000 there is a machine that I can withdraw money from. In bigger cities it should be no problem.

Couldn't find a Wangju but here's the website if you need an address:

Standard Chartered (SC) branches normally have an ATM machine which accepts Global ATM cards (look for the sticker).

Completely hit and miss. Sometimes KB machines (with the visa sign displayed) would let me withdraw cash with my Barclaycard but on other occasions they wouldn't. Completely bizzare. I found the cash machines in convenience stores the most reliable but even they are inconsistent . You should never rely on them. The one cash machine company that I never had any luck with though was the Nice cash machine company - despite having an option for a foreign credit card. They were useless. In fact, this is something Korea has to sort out. The cash machines are just too inconsistent. Most stores take them without any problems though so if you are short on cash use them in bars and supermarkets where you can so that you don't have to dip into your cash.

I can use my UK Nationwide Credit Card in Lottemart. Never tried it with my Debit Card. Both are Visa so I assume it would be fine.

E-mart will accept it without any problems but Himart may refuse on big purhases - a laptop for example.

citibank is great....always work with my UK cards...and you can get cheques from the ATM Cool

the ATMs in 7/11 stores also always work for me

SC is hit and miss...despite having global atm stickers, half of their ATMs dont work with my cards...just refuses me and pops out a message saying contact branch..
