|
|
Here are some of my ideas about how best to approach work at a public school.
1) Never go out to any school dinner/event unless you want to go
2) Always pretend to be busy and look lost in thought
3) Never eat lunch with your colleagues unless you want to
4) If before you adopt this approach you find your colleagues are rude or resentful, avoid them at every possible opportunity
5) When you meet your colleagues, politely acknowledge them but get away from them as fast as you can, while pretending to fufill a pressing need
6) If before you adopt this approach you find your colleagues are rude or resentful, act as pompous, incredibly nationalistic and absurd as they do. They will eventually realize you're taking the mick, will get lost and be wound up by the fact you possess an ounce of dignity and have absolutely no desire to kiss up to people who are not in anyway superior to you
7) If you meet somebody who is genuinely respectful, please reciprocate, as that is a sign of good manners and common decency
8 - Never, ever, volunteer to help your co-teacher with extra work-related matters unless they specifically ask you to help. This approach enables you to get more of a breather during those afternoons when you don't have to teach extra class
9) Always arrive at work earlier than your coleagues, so if they habour any ill-will to you for simply being an introvert, take pleasure in knowing you make them look like wasters, by virtue of the fact you arrive at work earlier than them, and therefore seem to be more dedicated to your job than they are. The good thing is as you never see your colleagues, they have no opportunity to vent their frustration at you
10) Always leave work on time, never leave a second after 4.40pm arrives. It's ironic but I always seem to leave the school at the same time the cleaner does. It's quite fitting that employees at a similar level on the school hierarchy leave work at a similar time
11) Lastly, please try to give a positive image, but remember if your colleagues dislike you, there is naff all they can do about it. Ultimately, they are just employees like you, their opinion is quite irrelevant. Just make sure you are on quite good terms with the V.P. and P. and please care less about what some of your dismal colleagues may think. Why care about people who don't want you there in the first place?!!
P.S. If you want to improve the reputation of native teachers and form strong bonds with your Korean colleagues (even though they can't stand you) please visit the following site:

Do you really think that way?
If so, then you appear to have the interpersonal and social skills of a toad.
It truly is no wonder that you seem to have the problems that you do.
Life is not going to get any better here for you if that is how you respond.
Good luck - you're gonna need it.

I like your style fromtheuk. Seriously.
These pages would be a helluva lot dullier without your input. |

There's nothing to debate with you. You're an idiot. You're an ass. Your school is NOT lucky to have you. Your wife is not lucky.
End of story.
See? No debate. |

Thanks RS Refugee for your wise comments and also we need Mr Squirrel's.
Why did the mods delete fromtheuk's previous thread about his health assessment? He thought his mental health was fine and demanded an apology from everyone.
All the E2 visa holders know this more than me, but do ESL teachers need to perform a mental health assessment for obtaining an E2 visa? or do hospitals just ask a yes/no type question? or even anything? |
