I have a LG LC-3500 cell phone, and am trying to upload a new ringtone to get away from the (pretty poor) default ones.
The store staff recommended I download one from the MusicON site. While I don't have a problem doing this, I'd rather be able to fiddle about with the tones myself.
I have a data cable for the phone, and here's what I've tried so far (on Windows Vista):
LG's Mobile Manager software allows me to connect to the phone, but only to upload and download MP3s from the MusicON play folder - these can't be transferred to "MP3 bell" (ringtones).
Cyon's sync software allows me to connect to the phone and mess about with the calendar and photos, but not the ringtones (if I try, there's an error with something about the model not supporting this feature).
Bitpim does not locate the phone, though there is a log message with the phone make/model so presumably it can access the data cable.
I can try using Bitpim on my Ubuntu installation, though I can't find any drivers for the data cable (unsurprisingly).
So: does anyone know if there's anything else I can try? I don't mind paying for a download if I can upload a file from my computer and then download it appropriately using my phone's browser. I can also change the MP3 to a midi or other file if it'd be supported better. Any help appreciated. |
