On a brighter note from my previous post, I had a talk with my principal today during lunch. He informed me that his son has been spending the last year living at home and unemployed since he graduated from University. The Principal is quite upset about this. When I questioned why, he told me that there is a trend among Korean college graduates these days that they refuse to work in jobs that are not in their field of study. In other words they refuse to apply for ANY employment if it is not in the area they received their degree in.
He also, mentioned that there is a trend among most high school students regardless of whether they are honors high schools or technical high schools to want to enroll in some University program. He is somewhat put out by the fact that "blue collar students" as he put it, would want to go to university after high school when there are plenty of jobs for them. What do you think? |

Sounds just like my friend's younger brother. Yeah, I've heard of a few cases like this, too. Some little emperors seem to keep their tremendous sense of entitlement even when they're not so little anymore. |

Do male high school graduates get to choose between college and the army? Maybe some boys are just putting off the inevitable. |

College may delay their induction to the army by up to 2 years but then they still have to serve their time (and then they can return to finish college if they want).
