Just wondering how it works if I have travel insurance with a a K travel agency, but I am not returning back to K after travelling. I emailed them this question but they gave me a very indirect answer, saying there is a number i can call from Canada. Any ideas?

Thanks!

What is your cover?

Your question is very unclear.. why do you need to call them? Did you have a problem that you need to claim through the insurance? Did the problem occur while you were on your holiday?

If so, yes, they are right. In your insurance booklet, they have telephone numbers for their worldwide offices, you call your local one and claim whatever it is that you need to claim. There should also be a claim form that you can fill it and mail to them.

I haven't left for my travel yet, but if something did happen where I would need to be hospitalized (which is covered) do I need to return to Korea to make a claim or if I could do it when I get home. i know that is probably still alittle unclear, but basically my question is does it matter which country you get travel insurance from.

thanks for your response!

OK. Understood.

No, you don't need to come back to Korea to make a claim. You will get a booklet when you buy the insurance, which lists all their offices worldwide. If your country isn't listed, then you will need to send the claim form to Korea.

If you are from N.America, though, there will be an office.

To minimise risk, I would go for AIG or another N.America company.

Cool thanks! I am going with Kangsan Travel, which is 60 000 won for 2 months insurance, compared to $120 for AIG back home.

Thanks for your help!

Kangsan Travel is not an insurance company - they will be acquiring from a broker, I am sure.

Check and make sure that it is legit.
