I am aiding my school in their search for my replacement and I would like your input, my job on paper looks just like every other job out there.

I would love to give you details but if I were to do that my thread would be pulled again. So you will just have to trust me.

Back in 1997 when i first came here I met a guy working in Japan on my layover. Guess how his school flew him home? Yup business class.

My own classroom with a compute, high speed internet and a big TV.
I get to teach whatever I want however I want.
Helpful Korean co-teachers, although some do have problems with theirs.

22 classes per week and extra pay for extra classes.
Base salary based on qualifications and experience (minimum of 2.1 mil for 22 classes of 40-50 minutes).
3-4 CALENDAR weeks of paid holidays (14-21 working days) in blocks.
decent apartment (not the typical hakwon shoe box).
medical / pension (as required by law).
airfare to Korea (prepaid).
extra holiday and cash for return flight if renewing/re-signing.
resources in the school for lessons and lesson planning (not just making photocopies in the 5 minutes before class).

Basically, meet (or exceed) the pay and benefits for a public school teacher (especially since you are NOT in Seoul) and you do NOT offer the security of a government backed system (since we all need the same minimum qualifications and there is no shortage of jobs in either the public or private sector).

If you don't, you will not be likely to recruit anyone who is able to do a simple google search on the internet and discover that your workload is high and pay/benefit package is low.

I don't think that my workload is high, I work less than 6 hours a day and that includes my Dave's time.

These suggestions are great though, a few of them I think my boss will offer, I will sit down with her and go through them all, so please keep them coming!

Screw a business class ticket, it is only about 20 hours round trip. I'd much rather spend hundreds of hours in an apartment that isn't crap or a couple hundred thousand extra won a month and some quality vacation time.

I've got a really nice apartment in a quiet location and still less than 10 minutes walk to work.
The most imoprtant thing is that the administration team leave me to do my job...and they do
