Yup, got me an ajumma. She was nice and tall too, with some weight on her.

I saw her coming from twenty paces away, while walking down the street with my wife and son. Just as she blithely walked into my wife, I crossed over behind my wife like an NFL lineman on a pull right stunt behind center, and laid my shoulder on hers. There was a beautiful split second between when she hit my wife and I hit her. Stopped her dead and she spun on her heel. I didn't even look back.

Yup, could have been avoided, but it's happening too damn much lately, and I feel great about it.

So there.

A friend of mine dropped one who was trying to push onto the subway when we were getting off. I remember it in slow motion as she recoiled from the impact of his dropped shoulder. Her bags of vegetables flew everywhere. I will take that memory to the grave .

There was one a week ago. She was right in the way of getting off the subway. THere was no way past her. I couldn't just push her though I have been wanting to (it took Korea to make me have violent thoughts Smile ). I did shoo her to the back of the line though and she gave me that f-ing stupid Korean smile when put in their place.

I was never really mean enough to do it before either, but I was on day four of a five day break from school (3 day class trips), and having spent most of those days outside in public with my family, paying careful attention to who walked into my wife, I was kind of blown away at the statistics.

Keep in mind that my wife is A small, and B obviously pregnant.

Number of men 20 and older who walked into my wife. 0

Number of men under 20 who walked into my wife. 1
(I startled him coming around a corner and he side stepped into my wife. He apologized profusely, and was forgiven.)

Number of women under say, 25, who walked into my wife. 0

Number of grandmothers (those shrivelled cashew shaped things). 0

Number of ajummas who walked into my wife. More than 15!!!
What the feck!?!

It tells me very clearly that they do in fact see us, that they are NOT engrossed in thought as to how better to help their families, but that it's completely intentional and driven by pure ignorance for whatever reasons, racist, selfish, territorial, menopausal, anger.....

I think in the future, my graciousness toward women of that ilk, and I have been very gracious in the past, will be somewhat diminished.

(edit. I have to admit though, it didn't happen in my small town. We were in Daegu, and I must say, being somewhere other than the place where everybody knows you, gave me a certain....permissive release.)

I'm so scared of Ajummas, they're much stronger than I am.

I fear them.

Homer, I am proud of the OP-for the sake of ALL Koreans, we need more of this, because there's only so much I can do to civilise these people.

It's true, Homer, it's true.

an ajossi cycled into my wife yesterday,i wasnt with her.
beat that.
she came home close to tears.
shes really tiny and korean too,and the adjossi swore at her, yelled at her to get out of his way(there was plenty of room, and he was ,of course ,on the pavement..not the road)
she shouted back at him ,then he went into a swear fest on her.

she wants to shoot em all...
if they are male and cycle/walk into me,i drop them now..4 yrs ago i didnt.

Do you also teach your children not to hit people by hitting them?

IF I HAD CHILDREN, IWOULD TEACH THEM NOT TO WALK INTO PEOPLE.
and that if they are male,to REALLY not walk/cycle in women, pregnant as in the OPs case,or carrying heavy shopping as in my wifes case last night.

does that clear it up for you, underwaterbob?

Yes. And we teach our citizens not to kill people by executing murderers.

I was exiting the subway during rush hour, and a wall of people decided that they were going to push into the subway without letting people exit first.

Very bad idea.

With a heeve-ho, I pushed right on through, and heard a bunch of "Mo! Mo! Mo!" coming from the crowd as the crowd parted and people fell sideways on each other.

My wife loved it. She said, "Good job!"

The funniest story on here has to be the guy who got into a shoving match with some ajosshi at the door. The foreigner send the ajosshi flying back out the door and onto the pavement. Right at that time, the doors closed, leaving the angry ajosshi screaming and whining -- his pride damaged -- as the train pulled away.
