Just wondering what the average Dave's user has for laptop size. I know that there are basically two camps of people - those who value portability and thus want small size, these guys like the sub compact. The other side are people who rarely move their laptop outside of their home and use it as their main machine and value larger screen size and power.

I've got a 12" laptop, but I find it too large and bulky for my taste. I've tried an 8" and it was too small, so when I replace my current one I'll be going with a 10"

I only got a laptop so I could bring it on the plane easily. Got the biggest I could, which was 17"

I don't have a laptop anymore. Used to have a 14.1", but sold it when I never took it anywhere and I had a good desktop.

If I do get another laptop, which is looking likely in the next year or so, probably be 12" or so at the biggest. Absolutely positively no bigger than 14. Anything bigger is just pointless.

I got a 15.4 and 7".

The 7" is just right for watching movies and a bit of arcade games but a little small for office stuff. Asus is coming out with an 8.9 which is a little larger overall and looks the same. I think anywhere between 9-11" is about right for a carry around notebook if its not a desktop replacement.

15.4 is the perfect size as 14.1 don't seem to accomodate higher resolution screens yet (best is 1440x900 on a Dell). 1680x1050 is rare on 15" though 1920x1200 is also available.

JustJohn, 17" is massive, my notebook barely fits when on the plane.

Wouldn't run 1920x1200 on anything less. Very Happy

I have a 17 inch, thinking that it'd be great for watching movies on flights and the KTX...but it sucks so much power that I can barely watch one. I suggest getting small, and if you want to watch movies, get an LCD monitor.

I've got a 15.4 which is just large enough to set up with kids watching from about 5-10 feet away.

not nearly as many responses as I expected, though the majority being 15" is what I expected. Not nearly enough people going with sub-compacts in my opinion.

Mine is a massive 4.8 inches.

Raon Everun. Awsome for subway Wibro browsing and PMP functions. Usuable for older games and useless for anything serious without an external screen and keyboard.
