The KRW is directly tied to USD. Infact the government has deliberately (and artificially) inflated the currency so as to maintain a parity with the USD. That means every time you earn KRW, you are essentially earning USD. USD will continue to sink in value. You hear the lifers' arguments all the time but pretty soon they shall be bunk as the KRW (USD) continues to slip; those money transfers will get a whole lot more expensive and your travelling will too; one should be earning Euros, not KRW. When the USD/Euro is looking 2:1 (and we are heading there), do you really want to be earning KRW?! How about 3:1?!

BTW...just for you Canadians....

Paying off those bills/debts is getting a whole lot harder, eh?

but aren't my debts in devalued US dollars as well? And once I have no debts, I don't really plan on going back to the US ever.

Irrelevant. If you want to travel, do things, buy things you are essentially earning USD whilst in Korea. Go to Japan; the Yen is doing a lot better.

I am trying to understand your agenda.

Are you in Korea? You dont like it, if you are here, why are you staying?

Why do you want to convince others that Korea is no good?

This is the last bit to *beep* over foreigners here because USD/KRW parity helps Korean exports but fucks 'English Teachers'...

Seconded. For a "30 year old man" (allegedly) you sure seem to act like a newbie burned by a hagwon boss.

Suggestion: get a good job. There are plenty here, you just have had some bad luck. brush it off, and get looking. Idea

Hahaha...newbie. Only in Korea do people accept as normal the theft of your tax money and pension as well as physical violence from your boss....only in Korea. That's normal; that's getting 'burnt'.

Going on 2 years....I would still consider myself a newbie and my contract is up 25/7/08...counting the days...plans at this point are up in the air but one thing will be nice...no more dealing with insanity that is considered to be within the realm of normality.

My agenda? To give the people who are smothered and assaulted by Korean apologists a voice....

That's, quite literally, my exact thinking. My debts are in US dollars and once they're paid I'm not going back, so I could give a rat's ass about the USD.
