Cultural relativism in my opinion is often an excuse for someone rude behavior Laughing

Alright, that comment probably condradicts itself, but I've read some comments by some posters (won't name any names) who will stick up for Korea no matter what.

Yes, the hating on Korea does get a bit much at times, but sometimes the hate is legit.

So with that said, what outrageous apologist comment can you come up with? Try to be funny about it Laughing

Cheers!

Oh I don't think that really happened. I have been here for 107 years and that has never once happened to me or anyone I know. You probably just misunderstood the ****enter problem here***. Here's a clue: You're not in Canada anymore. See, things are different here. You have to learn to adapt to the Korean culture and customs, and not be so stuck in the "my homeland is so superior" way of thinking. Very Happy

Not related to Korea at all but.....

Anybody who starts a sentence with "I'm not a racist but........" is guaranteed to follow those words with something racist.

Why the term apologist?

If you label someone an apologist, you are saying that they have something to apologise for, which means that they are automotically wrong, because they are apologising.

People who are positive about Korea aren't apologising for anything. It's personal opinion.

For example, if you say "I hate Korean taxis - the drivers are rude and reckless" and I say "I like Korean taxis, despite their drivers being rude and reckless", how does that make me an apologist? No behaviour has been excused, or apologised for.

Actually, an apologist is someone who gives a defense of something. Apologetics is the study of defending a system of beliefs or ideas.

Now, that isn't to say that an apologist won't ever apologize but it is incorrect to conflate the terms as they are different.

Greek and Roman thinkers would give apologies or defenses of what they believe. The early Christians produced some prominent apologists not to apologize for what they believed but to defend it in the face of Roman persecution.

This history and etymology lesson is brought to you by several years of costly education.

I'm sure it says more about me than you stormy but your avatar always makes me feel a bit funny. It's like I should either be at home preparing a cucumber salad or at a love hotel with my gf.
