Does anyone live Daegu? I'm looking into a position there. How are the schools and community in general? All info would be greatly appreciated!

I lived in Daegu for five years. I loved it. People are earthy, friendly and kind. Daegu is the rail hub for all Korea railroads. You can be anywhere in Korea in a very reasonable amount of time. The KTX to Seoul takes three hours, Pusan is an hour away. The climate is better than Seoul. Winter is a whopping six weeks. Summers are hot so make sure you have a/c.

The downtown is great, with good shopping an restaurants.

I would take Daegu over Seoul any day. It has a main train station, an airport and nice parks. It does not have the crowds and congestion Seoul or Pusan have.

I would go back there in a minute.

3-hours to Seoul on the KTX? I did it on Tuesday in two.

Daegu is 40-minutes from where I live. It's okay. We usually go there on Saturdays to shop, watch a movie, eat over-priced Western food etc. For the most part, the cities over here are pretty much the same; not particularly exciting and not very easy on the eye.

Thanks for those replies! I would like to know some information about a particular Hagwon in Daegu: LEL School (I am told it is affiliated with the YES School?). If you have any info about this school I would greatly appreciate it. You may also email me: joeotto69 AT yahoo DOT com if you want to do it privately.

Thanks!
