|
|
I was told yesterday that the extended May holiday from the 6th-9th has been cancelled by the government! Has this happened to anyone else? Of course I have already bought a plane ticket out of the country and there is a 50,000 won fee for canceling. Who will pay that fee if I cancel? Of course I made travel plans based on the assurance we had that week off! They said that parents complained, so they were canceling the holiday. Korea Sparkling............ |

Though many public schools do take days off after the official May 5th and May 12th holidays, only May 5th and May 12th are the only national holidays that fall on weekdays in May. |

That's interesting, considering the gov't never called them holidays. I don't get the 6-9th off. Never did. |

Whether it is called a holiday or not or whether it is "official" or not, I was told we would be off, so I relied on that information to make travel arrangements. Now I have to suffer because at the last minute the government calls it off? That doesn't seem quite fair. It's not my fault the parents can't find a babysitter for that week. We're off on May 5th and May 12th anyway. I will not be a happy babysitter that week, so they probably wouldn't want me to be here anyway. |

Yes, mine was cancelled yesterday. Sucks because last week I booked tickets and a hotel for Singapore. |

Yeah, they've been telling me more months I had that week off... suddenly it's gone. Can't help you with the cancellation fees, but you have my empathy. |

You're missing the point. The GOVERNMENT did not call it off. THE GOVERNMENT never called it on. Your SCHOOL called it off. Take it up with THEM. Tell THEM you already have a ticket and won't be coming in. |

I will not be coming in because it is a red day in any calender. If it is a red day, I don't work. |

Yes, this is the answer.
Personally, I would not cancel a trip especially if I was going to lose money on the deal. I would tell them to shove it and take your promised vacation. |
