Dolsot bibimbap is great because it's hot, but as for normal bibimbap in a plastic dish...well, I'm stumped. The ineptitude, the hapless incompetence of this dish has succeeded only in rendering me totally speechless. Let's see.....
* cold or lukewarm plastic dish
* cold vegetables
* lukewarm rice
* cold pepper sauce
...all mangled together in a ghastly and lukewarm at best red concoction that's as unappealing on the eye as it is to decency and taste. Kimchi jjigae? Bring it on. Samgyetang? Where do I sign up? Kamjatang? For sure. The numerous BBQ dishes? Heavens, yes! But Bibimbap is the very reification of baseness and vulgarity. Am I right, or am I right? |

I try my best to avoid it. Doesn't do much for me. Not the biggest rice fan. Just seems like filling for the sake of filling.
Some triangle kimbaps are not so bad. But then again... |

^^ You are the master of "my opinion is better than your opinion" on completely subjective topics.
I like bibimbap. It tastes good to me.
Edit: to the OP. |

Oh, you said "bibimbap." My bad.
Depends, I guess. You could just make it at home. Even then... Rice. Gochujang. Meh. When I make a stir fry (and it's been a while), I tend to put a handful of red pepper paste in. Not so bad. Usually a huge amount of beef, pork or chicken. Lot of veggies.
I think I had bibimbap once while eating out. Meh.
Korean food's ok if you're starving to death. |

I ate it for the first time in the school cafateria the other day and thought it was great. Lots of protein compared to other Asian foods as well. |

Hahahahahahahahaha........
I just decided to check dave's for the first time in like 6 months. I used to check it out a lot, but i got fed up with all the negative lame-brained posts....
And this is the first one I see!!!!!!!
Christ........if you moved to America would you write posts about how hamburgers are bad? Are you so proud of the fact that you have been here a week and know what bibimbap is? I hope in a few months you realize how silly you sound.
Esl cafe reminds me of one of my coworkers- or perhaps it is the other way around. As soon as that dipsh*t learns one little thing about korea, he has to brag that he he knows about it and bring it up all the time, and give is lame opinion..... "Well, it's a confucianist society, so everyone has to save face. Its so dumb." That kind of stuff.
That said, everybody else I know here is great, and does not base their lives around the negative Dave's view of Korea. it blows my mind that people who have been here for more than 6 months can get any pleasure out of reading the crap that is written here. |

Word....does nothing for me. There are so many better dishes to order from those little kimbap stores like sun du bu chigae or youk gae jang, kalbi tang, om raisu etc....bi bim bap is horrid shit but koreans get all hyper defensive when i try to tell them this. |

I've been here 3 years, you bloody tosser! Kindly return to your period of nonposting, eh? Totally agree with the bit in bold, mind you, but otherwise your post serves as a chilling reminder of everything I seek not to ever be. |
