The didn't do the Latin name correctly. The genus gets a capital letter. Most times, if there is a mistake, it is when people capitalize both the genus and species.

It should be Cannabis sativa.

True, it is just a plant.

However, due to years of brainwashing by governments, churches, schools, etc., people like my grandmother believe this plant to be "evil"- like it comes from the devil himself.

This brainwashing propaganda was put on the Korean people by the Park Chung Hee government and they believe it to this day.

Way back when, hemp was widely used and cannabis was smoked by Koreans. Nowadays, they totally believe that soju is the great thing of the Korean people- the gift from the gods- and cannabis is an evil, immoral thing that foreigners enjoy!

Trying to deprogram people is a near futile task!

Hmmm... a plant that is illegal and should remain so, thanks to its severe mind altering qualities.

Please tell us about these "severe mind altering qualities"?

One more question- has any of these phrases ever been uttered in the history of humankind?

"He got so high on marijuana and
-got in a huge fight!
-beat his wife/kids!
-violently destroyed property!
-died of marijuana poisoning!"

Well, it's certainly common for alcohol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Weed is great, but people generally just do stupid, boring things when they smoke it.

For me, I can't really concentrate on reading and things like that.

When I was working in Quebec, for a while I smoked it before going into work. A good-size joint under the stove fan. Then I'd go for my 20-minute walk to work. Lunchtime, too with one of my co-workers.

That's not really an acceptable way to use it. I'd use Visine for Work and make sure I didn't smell like it. The job was in an office of about 20. I could do my job well enough, because it was mostly on the phone. But when someone came up to me with something, it used to freak me out. Kind of fun in a way, but an expensive habit and not really the way to go.

I was at a point where I'd smoke it every day and the pure annoyance of running out and having to pick up more drove me nuts. Maybe it's better to grow your own if you can.

Good thing it's not really a physcial addiction. The first time I quit was hard. After that, it's just mind over matter. I'll smoke it again sometime, but it really does grab hold of you.

It does different things to different people if you believe what people tell you. But it makes you look different after you smoke it.

I dunno.

"It's just a plant" is not a good argument. The poppy is just a plant but its extract has ruined countless thousands of lives.

I've personally seen people develop mild psychosis from smoking too much pot. This has been backed up by scientific research. It can cause various forms of psychosis if abused.

In saying that, I'm in favor of legalisation as I believe in people making their own choice, and it's stupid to have alcohol and tobacco legal and not pot.

The one thing that really turns me off it is the time I saw an old friend. We had a few joins and he just fell asleep. I haven't smoked it in a long time and don't miss it.

However going to an American style all you eat Chinese buffet high is an awesome experience.
Ironically the only time I've indulged over here was the night we decided to tour the red light district in Seoul. It was a mind blowing evperience.

Have you ever been on a Vespa or Lambretta. I had some friends who were in a scooter club. They used to have runs where they would dive somewhere. One day a guy on a spaceage looking Honda asked if he could join in
They told him he couldn't since he was driving a plastic scooter it might melt in the hot weather.
