I've been trying to book a double room in a reasonably ( < 100,000 !) priced hotel/serviced apartment in Seoul and am having NO luck. Everything seems to be booked solid for the the May 2nd Weekend.
Obviously, this can't be the case across the board. My guess is that some rooms have been on-sold to discount online companies, but the question is: WHICH ONES?
I've tried the usual resources (agoda, asia rooms, etc.) and am getting sick of going through the process of giving them all of my info and waiting a day just to be told the place is book. One place (Korean) even lists things as Book Now (rather than On Request) and still falls through.
Any pointers for where/how to find a decent room for this period? We'll hit up the love hotels if we need to. Anything in, or within reasonable access to Hongdae and Myeong-dong is fine! |

There's a hotel ibis in Myeongdong that you might want to check out if you don't want to stay in a motel. It's reasonably priced but I'm not sure if it will be under 100,000 won. |

Get in a taxi and say "yeogwan." There are some behind little Russia at Dongdaemun stadium station (exit 13, behind the street money changers). |

Ibis is a bit more than we wanted to spend.
I was just thinking about Yeogwan. I'm betting I know the answer to this, but is there anywhere with a list of yeogwan (with reviews/ratings) by area? |

I am staying in a love hotel in Buncheon at the minute. Huge room TV, DVD, Fridge, Coffee maker. The room also has a computer with internet(FREE).
30K per night. |

Sounds perfect.
Anyone know of a similar joint in Hongdae? Come on...some of you have used them in that area, surely
The problem (I'm told) with love hotels in Korea is that some won't let you stay more than one night. |

There are no love hotels in Hongdae. My girlfriend and I found this out the hard way. You have to go to sinchon, one whole subway stop away. in between Sinchon rotary and ewha women's university there are a million and two different love hotels everywhere. The largest and most prominent is Motel Good Time. |

Thanks for the tip! Looks like we'd better arrive early and get this sorted ASAP. |

When I spent a week in Seoul in November, I stayed at Hotel Rodeo at a big intersection in Mokdong. It was on the opposite corner from Mr. Pizza. I payed 60,000 except for Saturday, when I payed 70,000. It was so clean and neat. The bedsheets seemed brand new. It wasn't pimp like Hotel Lexi that someone once linked on here, but rather seemed more like a love motel for people aged 50+. It's the only "love motel" I've ever stayed in, so maybe others are nicer, but I was extremely happy to stay there and will the next time I travel to Seoul. It didn't have a computer like the person's above. But even if a Hilton would've cost 60,000 I would've still rather stayed at Hotel Rodeo. |

on either side of Jongno area, parallel are very tiny side streets, there are oodles of great love hotels there, and you can't ask for a better area. rates run 50-80 on weekends, and they do fill up fast, so get there before 6 or so
I've stayed at love hotels for several nights before, it's not a problem anywhere in K, but if you know in advance you're going to stay more than 1 night you should definitely bargain on the rate |

I'm leaning towards Jongno and Shinchon. Shinchon I can find. Not sure about the Jongno area, though!
If I pop out of Jongno-3ga, where should I head (exit, direction ?)
On another note, there was an old thread about the best love hotels in Seoul. Of those, these were mentioned:
E'zen (Shinchon)
Mong (Jongno)
Anyone have details? |
