When one looks at what Vista was supposed to be as opposed to what hit the shelves, its of little surprise that MS are already preparing a successor.

We'll see how much the idiot masses can deal with next time. If they think Vista is tough to love in its current state, Windows"7" is going to make them cry.

Anyone remember Longhorn? Rolling Eyes

You think Microsoft are making things harder for the people who buy their OS's every time they release?

As far as I was aware the masses didn't buy VISTA, yet. Wink

I sure as hell didn't buy Vista.

Perhaps MS is realizing that the Vista name carries such negative connotations that they'd better move on.

No, I think MS is realizing how generally ignorant people are and how they cry for things but are unwilling to take any responsibility whatsoever for the implications in making that desire a reality.

Whining babies...give 'em Longhorn then.

There is nothing wrong with Vista at all. Its better than XP and a step in the right direction.

Apparently, you've never tried to build a home theater PC using Vista.

I'm running Vista, and it's ok. When I first ran it, about one year ago, game performance was terrible because proper drivers hadn't been written yet. Now, it's a few FPS behind XP, maybe, but then, which Windows OS Hasn't had higher system requirements than its predecessor? Windows 2000 is faster than XP on my laptop, and 98SE flew on it. If I installed MSDOS 6.22, man, I'd have the shortest boot times ever.

For that matter, I have a copy of Redhat Linux (that's autographed by Linus Torvalds) from 1994 which will install and run a GUI on a 486. Good luck doing that with the newest version. You would probably have trouble running OSX on any Mac that's more than five years old, too.

Admittedly, I'm glad to hear that they're streamlining Windows 7. I drool over the ASCII art boot screen.
