I bought a Toshiba laptop with Korean vista. Big mistake.

I can't play one of my PC games because of the inbuilt security program thingy whatsit. Can somebody please tell me how to deactivate it so I can play my game?

I found some sites saying this would solve the problem but as my vista is in Korean I can't work out how to do it. I'm totally unfamiliar with vista so don't know what I was thinking when I bought the stupid thing. I obviously can't read Korean either.

Anyone able to help out a complete technological neophyte here?

Download and install English Vista. You'll save yourself countless headaches in the future.

How do I do that? Where can I download it from & can I d/l it directly on to my laptop & install it over the korean or do I have to d/l it somewhere else, uninstall the korean version & then install the english version?

Yes I'm useless at this stuff...

Since you do not specify your version of Vista ... ... ultimate can change the UI from Korean to English. Go to control Panel to flip it between the two or whatever language pack(s) you have installed.

Did the laptop come with vista pre-installed on the hard drive (ie. no disks)?

Ours did, and during setup, we changed the language and the locale to the UK. while that window for seting up the languages was on, we pressed Ctrl+Shift+F3 to get the OS to start in English. Only Norton kept coming back in Korean, so it's disabled.

Yes it was pre-installed & I have no idea what version of vista it is....I thought vista was the 'version' of windows.

I'll try & work out what's what using babelfish or something....I can't understand any of the pop-ups or headings.

Thanks for the links & info though people. I'll give everything a twirl.

You had best wipe the system and install an English version. Typically, laptops come with Vista Home...not so hot.

If you are in Seoul, PM me with your exact location. Perhaps I could lend a hand.

You're a darling to offer but I'm off in the wilds of Geongsangbuk-do. Thanks anyway.

Any recommendations on where to obtain an English version of vista in Korea?

Torrents or online from Danawa, among other places. Get a Korean friend to order it if you are concerned with downloading.
