So, I'm looking for anyone who knows if the Nuvaring is sold in Korea (with or without prescription) and the cost.
If it's not available, I'm scheduled to get a copper IUD tomorrow. I don't really want to get it, but I can't fully handle pills. So in addition, anyone with an IUD in Korea and worry about it? Are IUDs popular in Korea?
Also, what are some other BC's available other than Diane/estelle, Mercilon, and triquilar? Is there a variety?

oh drat- Oh, I don't know, I just haven't researched the matter yet. there is an old thread on birth control a few pages back (probably about ten or so) written by people who know what they are talking about (or so I assume. I'll try and see if I can dig it out for you |

Yes, Nuvaring (누바링) is available in Korea. I don't know how much it costs though or if you need a prescription.
IUD's are also here. Dr. Sung in hannam-dong can fit one for you. I believe she offers both types. |

Abortion is the most favoured form of birth control in Korea.
Why don't you understand Korean culture???? |

|
|
Anyone out there been taking Myvlar? I just started taking it about two months ago but find myself freaking out because the instructions are in Korean and I can't find crap about it online... And it doesn't help that I live in the country and there are no fluent pharmacists here...
What I want to know, specifically, is whether Myvlar is a combination pill or progestin only. I'm assuming it's a combination pill because everything I've read says that progestin pills only come in 28 day packs while Myvlar is 21 days, but then again, it never hurts to ask those who would know... And also, how important is it to take this pill on time? I know that progestin only pills must be taken within 3 hours of your scheduled time everyday, but it seems that comibination pills are less strict (from what I've read). I've been an hour and a half off twice in the last month; I'm sure I'm safely within the window, but yes, better to check.
I'm also curious to know what your experience with it has been like. Qualms or praises?? So far I've lost at least 10 pounds--quite contrary to the normal assumption that bc makes you gain weight--but who knows if that's because of the pill or not. |

Nuvaring is available in South Korea but it's not very common.
I know a pharmacy in Hannam sells it - the pharmacy is on the opposite side of the road to the UN village and is right next to the bus stop for the 110 blue bus.
You need a prescription and it costs about 17,000 won per month. Most doctors haven't heard of it and don't have it on their computer systems but if you get them to handwrite a prescription the pharmacy will accept that. |
