.....been home working twice as hard for half as much......not good.

Anyway, I have not made an official decision as of yet, but after ...

1. Noticing how much westerners really bitch about the smallest things.
2. Seeing but mainly fat girls walk around (not that I am much to look
at myself...I'm not fat, but DAMN.......anyway, moving on.)
3. Lving and working ina small ski town in Montana, where everyone is
pretty much a pot head.
4. Living on the side of a mountain (big house, though) outside of town
and all of the action
5. Not saving any money.
6. The bank just somehow decided I was nearly $400 in the hole with
my checking account......WTF?
7,. Realzing that I really don't have they ways and means to go back to
school and obtain a Masters Degree.
8. Finding out that I my GPA is 6 tenths of a point below the cut off for
any alternative teaching certifcation programs.

I could go on.........but I won't. I htink the point has been made.

Has anyone heard of Wales English School in Pohang?

I need some info....fast.

Thanks.

Hmmmm, can't really remember a school by that name. But like all other towns in Korea there's a buttload of schools. From my explerience I would try to get a little closer to Seoul. Pohang is about as far "out there" as you can get in Korea. I think the locals are about 10 times more racist and ten times less likely to have a good command of English. I lived there for a couple years.

Well, I've heard that before about Pohang. However, I've heard some really good things as well. To me, the most important things are....

1. Conctract (not the bad)
2. School's rep (I was able to contact three of the teachers that work
there, and they were rather optomistic about the school).
3. Owner (not sure yet.........but I have informed him of my trials and
triumphs in Korea and I am still good to go.....they may be desperate).
4. Location...........yes, I've read about Pohang. But it is not a small city
and there are the comforts of home to be found there. Seoul is always
a train ride away.
5. Beggars can't be choosers.

Welcome back.

And you are not a beggar. You have a great deal of power here. You are definitely a "chooser".

Would you consider a public (elementary) school in Bundang (Yatap) or are you set on a hakwon in Pohang? Can't remember if you were one of the ones who had a bad time in a public school and wanted to get back into a hakwon.

You would be at least a level 2 with your Korean experience (base salary at 2.1 + extra classes (200-400k per month) + benefits) and still be home by 5pm.

Just wondering?

Get a load of self esteem dude. Like the other poster said you are in the driver's seat.

Here's the lowdown on Pohang:
1. Korean GF? Unlikely. The locals are some of the most racist I've found across the pinensula.
2. Not much to do besides hit local bars. Oh and after a few times chatting and flirting with a local BG you'll have surely convinced yourself that she is in love with you, until about the 10th time you call her and she makes an excuse why she can't go out with ya. And thats after you've spent about 150,000 buying her expensive drinks so she would sit and talk with you.
3. The expat community are few and far between. The ones you will meet are generally reclusive and suspicious.
4. Pohang is not foreigner friendly. It's not like you will be messed with on a daily basis but I have been refused services at a few restaurants and other places.
5 Seoul is a 5 hour (on a fast bus) ride and a few weekends a month there and your bank account will be signifigantly lighter.
6. Pusan is not Seoul and yes it's just an hour away but it's not entirely different culturewise from the rest of SE Korea.
7. Generally a very lonely experience.
8. Every few months the Okinawan marines land and clog up the downtown getting in fights and other skullduggery. It's a pain in the butt if going drinking is the only hobby you have and likely it will be.
