Is there a difference in the working conditions between the Public and Private MS?
I signed up to work in a public school but it turns out I'm working at a private school. I've been told there is no difference but I reckon there might be. |

Which recruiter told you that it is a public school?
I am interested to hear how you got duped if that is the case... |

I think the OP is looking for the differences between public and private middle schools, not public school and hagwon. |

OP, I'm at a private elementary school. (The parents drew cards in a lottery to see if their kids could get into my school. I saw this actually. Major private funds involved, too.) It's a laboratory school for a nearby uni education department and it is different from the other public schools. But for the most part it's better. That may be the beginning of the difference you see if you're in a similar place.
Take vacation for example. Most of the public schools I hear of in my city are so crappy that the principals pad the vacation time onto the contracts to entice the teachers to stay. My school just gives me the vacation time in my contract, which is still a lot (I have 25 days not including national holidays, plus extra weeks written in in the event of marriage, death, a few other things.) If you're in such a school and wondering why your fellow ELIs are getting months off in the winter while you get three or four weeks, you may want to look at what their school conditions are like.
Private religious schools, island schools are also other types of schools under the broader heading of public school. They're also quite different in many respects. |

Private and public schools are the same as far as students go. But, in private schools, most likely most of the teachers have been at that same school for a long time.
In public schools teachers are rotated every 3-5 years. I personally find that private schools have a better atmosphere among the teachers, since most teachers have been working together for years and even decades. But, private schools also really like "playing" around with their money more, than public schools, that the government gives to them. Even though my Korean is not fluent, I find the office politics in private schools to be much more entertaining than in public schools. If you ever go drinking with your private school co-teacher, ask about how, or why, a certain teacher got a job...very interesting |
