|
|
Living in Canada these days it's impossible to totally ignore the dog and pony show going on south of the border. I am by no means a supporter of the Republican agenda, but it is getting more difficult to feel good about the Democrat choices too. They keep shooting themselves in the foot.
I think Obama would be the best choice of the three as president. But with Rev. Wright coming out again with a few incendiary remarks that stick to Obama regardless of his opinions about what the good Rev. has to say, it looks like trouble ahead for the man who would be the first African American president.
Can a man lose the chance to run the free world because his (ex?) pastor spouts inflammatory rhetoric?
Sadly, I think it can happen. |

I think Obama is the worse choice. What the hell does he stand for? No one knows...all anyone says is "change" and "hope." Someone in the news said (I forgot)that the candidates are a racist, a communist, and a liberal.
I think we are screwed either way. I hate all three of them. Wonder who the third party candidate will be... |

It would be interesting to have a Native American as a candidate. Why, I don't know. Has there ever been one? I can't think off of the top of my head of any... |

I personally dont care much, and that is good as I dont get to vote.
A woman would be good, at least for some gender balance. So many other contries have had female leaders, some would surprise if you didnt already know.
Western countries
Thatcher
Finland (I think)
New Zealand
Eastern Countries
The Philipines
Others
Isreal
Muslim Countries
Bangladesh (twice I think) <edit> a quick search showed three </edit>
Pakistan
Indonesia

Hillary is a bit different than the afforementioned. Personally I think America and the world have had enough of both the Bushes and the Clintons. If a woman is the best candidate then I say elect her but Hill has too many negatives and skeletons in her(and Bill's) closet to be anything positive for the nation.
If you want a woman elected president then runa viable candidate. Don't elect them simply because they are black, female, etc.. |

Yesterday.
That bastard. He should be lambasted for those awful attempts at various dialects let alone some of the more jackassed commentary. |

Yeah. Even though I personally like Obama and how he speaks to the voters like adults rather than children, one simple fact remains. He's Black. I simply don't think America is ready.
I agree, it really has been a dog and pony show. I think Clinton is trying to stay in the race for one reason and one reason only. She knows that at some point the media machine is going to kick into high gear and really, really go after Obama.
I mean.. having a man in the white house who can admit that America has done some pretty shitty things. Blasphemous. |

What is the problem with Rev Wright? From what I've seen, he's never said anything racist, sexist or completely derogatory toward Americans.
Can someone please tell me what the issue is, because I haven't seen it. |

He recently was quoted saying the US government fabricated the AIDS virus deliberately to attack minorities.
Don't know whether that is true or not, but if I was a betting girl.....not! |

Ironic that the most realistic shot black folks have had at one of their in the Big Seat was destroyed, purposefully, by one of their own.
I think that Wright wants to protect his status as a protected, permanently victimized group and feels threatened by Obama. If anything, this all shows how out of touch black "leaders" are with black people. 90% of black people in Pennsylvania voted for Obama. But Wright and (today) Al Sharpton slam him in loud and public ways. |

mnhnhyouh,
You left off India from your list.
mises,
Last night, I was talking with some friends and I said I think that particular pastor hates Blacks. They said, "But HE is Black!" I told them that I knew that. It seems to me that your thesis may very well be the case. |
