...music.
OK...so can you apologist, haters, political agenda pricks (not everyone here on Dave's..........but you know who you are) take amoment and appreciate the beauty of rediscovering music?
What do you think an appropriate song for Korea is right now?
My vote?
"Come Together"..by the Beatles.

P.S.........Holly Lightining, I am so into the Beatles right now. I was always a Stone's fan, but the joy of discovering a band is awsome. My old saying about the Beatles was this.........."They wrote 800 songs.....20 of them were good"................so not true. I really had to listen, research and not go on the opion on others.
So glad I did.

I'm always finding myself listening to the Smiths here, probably not a good sign. That rebellious, intelligent (and depressive) music seems so contrary to Korean music culture (generally manically happy, poppy, vacuous crap), so it seems more poignant when I listen to it. |

OK.......that is noted and understood. Perhaps I should ask another question.....?
If there was a song that you could relate with Korea.......or possibly use as an anthem for CHANGE....what would it be?
"Come Together" is still my vote...................*beep* em...................Wonder Girls? Gimme a break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Koreans can say what they want about the West, and some of it is spot on. But...........they have NOTHING......I mean......NOTING in the way of contributing to quality music.....or changing the tone/face/trend of music..(not a Korean put down , per say.......but.merley a back up)

The Roots - Here I Come/ Game Theory seem to be catching the vibe most for me lately. Also, Shine On You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd is alway good for the bus ride home in the late afternoon sun. Speaking of which, I am out of here. |

Serioulsy..........personality wise, I am not big on Korean gals. But, if I found one that that had a clue about his entire topic.......it would be on like donkey kong........!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, the whole Wish You Were Here album is very good. If I am going into rush hour chaos in Seoul I generally go for some hard bob jazz, like Coltrane. It seems to be right on the money for the mood.

Back to my point.......
........it is amazing how one can find music again, through all the crap that we are spoon fed these days by our friendly neigborhood media/magazine/crap rap artist/crap boy band/crap girl band (Wonder Girls)/crap politcal band.............................the list goes one.
Rediscovering music is some of the best fun I have had in a long time.

Actually, this thread make me think of another question.
How may Westerners who are married to Korean womean actually take the time/or have th balls, to show their wives what they and thie country has missed out on, in regards to real music..................rather then sit there and say "Yes, dear...I"l eat my Kimchi".?
No hate, here.
Just curious.

I play a variety of music for my gf, her appreciation varies. She is liking some jazz, but hard bop is way too much.
<edit> come to think of it, I didnt like it much at her age either. </edit>
