China is a nation of 1.3 billion people. Only 90% of these people are even of the Han ethnicity. Of those 1.1 billion Han, several millions do not agree with the counter-protests. Of those who do agree with the counter-protests, no doubt there are many who do not agree with a few counter-protestors' use of violence. |

Wouldn't you be deported for just turning up?
Ah, but your government's embassy hasn't sanctioned you an agent provocateur. Still you could always soak yourself in paint thinner like those nork refugees.

My bad..."they" being the Chinese I know who have pro-Chinese slogans beside their names on MSN and the people in the protest who participated in violence and who are named Wang. I forgot about the PC on the board. |

So precise clear non-bigoted thought (2nd post) is PC and bad, but your real thought is the sloppy thinking at best/bigoted post at worst (1st post) (changed because of criticism) is your real thought. Is that right? |

Nationalism is an infantile disease. It is the measles of mankind.
Heroism on command, senseless violence, and all the loathsome nonsense that goes by the name of patriotism - how passionately I hate them! ~Albert Einstein
Patriotism, the virtue of the vicious. ~Oscar Wilde
You'll never have a quiet world till you knock the patriotism out of the human race. ~George Bernard Shaw
Patriotic societies seem to think that the way to educate school children in a democracy is to stage bigger and better flag-saluting. ~S.I. Hayakawa

First, I hate that every "they statement" is jumped all over on this board. I have been over this on other threads. Sometimes making "they statements" is good for venting even if it is not PC. Sometimes it is necessary to say things how you see them or how you feel even if it is not PC. Also, precise clear thought is not bad.
As to your point of possibly being a bigot. I don't like China. I don't like their gov't or their policies. I don't like the nationalism that I have seen from the Chinese in the news and that I know. I don't like how my Chinese friends have changed their MSN handles to ignorant statements lauding China; I don't like how they are blaming the world for being upset about the occupation of Tibet, Xinjiang, and numerous other regions that have been occupied since WWII. I also don't like how they are upset about criticism over Dafur and Zimbabwe to name a couple of other issues. I don't like the Chinese policy of don't interfere in China, but we will interfere where we like. I don't like that if people protest against China's actions that they are automatically labelled as anti-China. I never really liked China's recent history or policies, but I have come to dispise them over the past 6 months. I know that not all Chinese fall under my generalizations, but it does not change how I feel about China in general. These beliefs very well could make me a bigot. |

Hmmm..."precise clear thought is not bad", just too much trouble when your emotions are running away with you? Is that right?
(I do try to keep up with the thought processes and posting style of each and every poster, but "T" is pretty far down in the alphabet, so I haven't got to you yet.) |

| I can help you out with my posting style. I am hot-headed, reactionary, and emotional at the best of times. So often my posts are full of crazy mistakes and unreasonable conclusions. Also, unless I am using Firefox my spelling tends to deteriorate as my emotions get going. I also like to make sweeping generalizations about groups and people for their positive and negative behaviours. |

| Any truth to the rumour that some of the Chinese protesters were being paid by the embassy in Beijing? |
