Yesterday, the Principal came into class and removed the microphone I use in regular class. It's because a teacher complained about the noise.

My co-teacher uses her own small microphone.

I wasn't too bothered. I explained that if the students don't remain quiet, I will not shout, I'm not going to get a sore throat like last year.

If the students won't shut up, it's not my problem. I suspect this means less work will be done during the lesson and I intend to speak at a normal sound level, regardless of whether the students listen.

What's stupid about this, is during the recent renovations, the microphone was installed in the English room along with large speakers. So, why install this equipment, if it can't be used? Rolling Eyes

My God, fromtheuk. There's always someone at your school who wants to fight you.

If the Ss aren't listening it is perhaps because your lessons are not interesting nor engaging. Talking at high volume will not solve that, I'm afraid.

They're not my lessons, the co-teacher enforces most of her fantastic ideas!

So you just play "Follow the Leader" and do not implement any of your own ideas into the lesson? No wonder the students are not quiet for you, they do not respect their Korean Teacher's english-speaking pet.

Let me correct you. The students don't listen consistently, for me or the Korean teacher. The same was true of my previous co-teacher.

Have we grasped the point I'm trying to make yet or would you like to enrol for moron class?

It's important to mention, no other teachers are allowed to use proper microphones, but they are allowed to use portable microphones.

Anyway, I'm quite happy, because when it's my turn, I'm going to speak at a normal sound level and if the students don't listen, it's their problem.

My greatest concern is the money anyway, before you poo-poo me for saying so, that's the only reason you're here too, and the forthcoming negative remarks on this thread cannot mask the fact, the love of education is also of secondary importance in your estimation as well! Laughing

My co-teacher also felt it was stupid of the Principal to remove the microphone. She dislikes him, possibly even more than myself Shocked

Damn, how melodramatic can you be?

In the space of a few short months, you have had more conflict with the people you work with and for, than any 20 other people put together.

The incredible part is that it has never been your fault. Everybody except you is stupid, crazy, petty, and childish.

Again, for "moron class" flunkies...talking at a high volume will not solve your problem. Do you have anything to teach? Laughing

The problem is, you're not ruggedly handsome nor an alpha male, so students don't respect you. For instance, head butting students really instills respect, try it. Also, routinely break boards and flex to remind them who's boss.

On a serious note, if you're here for the money... why don't you become a strategic management consultant?

I have been told by my students I'm handsome, but that's not the point.

Spliff - That admiration thread has gone to your head, no wonder all you can ever post is one line at a time.

I just discussed my overdue water bill at length in the admin. centre with many staff listening in.

The previous tenant paid my bills until the end of Feb, and I've been told, I'd be cut off maybe at the end of May. Just now I was told it's not something to worry about, it may last for longer.

I can't pay it at my bank, it has to be paid at another one. I want to just pay it myself, but it was paid through the last tenants bank account, and she either cancelled it or she ran out of funds.

I don't want to be cut off, so I have kept asking about it but with a slight smile on my face. My co-teacher looks sick of it, but it's not her water that may be cut off.

Anyway, she said she will sort it out next week or I could contact my houseowner, I tried to contact his son last night, I'll try again.

A friend in the V.P.'s office initially helped out today, I left him, my co-teacher and the admin staff, after discussing the water bill. I'm sure they have a few choice words to say e.g. he keeps going on about his water bill, he doesn't trust me to sort it out etc.

On a serious note, why don't you just put up a photo of yourself on this forum and let your numerous admirers here decide for themselves?

In fact, the word has lost all meaning to me now....along with 'Hello'.

Two words that'll never be the same again.
