I met my Korean boyfriend in Kyoto in late 2003. We were both living in Japan at the time. We were both on holiday and staying at the same youth hostel and got talking -for hours one night in the common room, . My Kiwi friend introduced us and I got a really good feeling about him. It turned out he was much younger than I thought- but it's all good!
He followed me to New Zealand for 18 months, then it was my turn to come to Korea- I arrived almost 2 years ago. I still think it was incredible luck that we managed to meet each other so randomly but maybe everyone feels like that about their love! |

| I met my husband in a club in Hongdae, called Hodgepodge. Its not there anymore, but I went there most weekends. |
On two separate occasions I watched two of my ex-roommates literally punch girls in the face while I was at that bar. Damn. (two looong stories). F'in nutters. Mutual combat galore at that joint back in the day.
The Hodgepodge was a scene and a half some nights. |

I had a bunch of Korean and Jap friends at uni (one year exchange student types), and travelled around Japan for 3 months on my summer break to catch up with some of them. 3 days after getting back to Australia, and uni, there was a welcome back kind of party with lots of drunk people. some aussie guy was hitting on me but he seemed a bit of a sleeze, and this cute tall korean guy came up and rescued me. we hit it off, and after uni finished we travelled around oz, then I followed him back to korea, married him (he met my dad a week before our wedding) and now we have a 2 month old son. couldnt be happier.
I also thought foreign women with Korean men was rare, but i saw more stories on here than i thought i would. |

I met my first Korean girlfriend at my old hagwon - she was my student. We used to get new students every month as they liked to rotate the teachers. The first day of class I had them doing pair work. As I was monitoring them she leaned over to speak to her partner and I caught a glimpse of beautiful golden skin at her midriff. I was hooked. The whole month I looked forward to that class because I wanted to see her.
After the month was up and she was no longer in my class, I sent her a text message inviting her for a coffee. We did that and she was so sweet. As we left the coffee shop and had to go our separate ways in was raining, so I gave her my umbrella. A few days later she called me at about midnight. It was chusok 2005 and she was drunk. Anyway she insisted she wanted to see me 'Right now.'
I sighed and went to the station to meet her, half expecting her to not show up. Well, she did show up in a taxi. With a friend. "Oh, no" I thought. "She'll spend the whole time yakking away with her friend in Korean, while I sit there left out. Then I'll be expected to pay for the food and drinks it."
Far from it. She talked to me the whole time and her friend was the one left out. At one point she just grabbed my face and started kissing me passionately (she was drunk, remember).
As we left, I flagged a taxi down for the girls. She handed me her bag and started talking to her friend. I don't understand Korean but they were clearly having a heated discussion. After a bit she came to me and announced she was coming home with me. I didn't take advantage of her that night - I slept on the couch. Anyway the next day she was sober and clearly still up for it. She didn't leave my apartment for 3 days except to go home for a change of clothes. It went on until she went overseas to study a few months later.
Sad day when she left. She was cool - not at all the princess, even though she had a rich mother. Even criticized Korea and Koreans frequently.
And she drove me fucking nuts with lust. |

I was in Prison in Busan for speaking Russian. I dropped the soap. After it was over I turned around and there he was. We've been together ever since. |

That is, quite possibly, the most romantic thing I have ever read. |

| So, it seems like most of these Korean Western hookups were years ago. Seems like Korean women were more attracted to foriegners than they used to be. I have dated a couple of korean women but found I did better with women back in Canada. Seems like Korean women are very stuck in their own worlds. (Princess Syndrome and plastic surgeries aside.) That and I'm guessing there are so many foriegners here now that we are no big deal. Then again, I don't live in Seoul and I face an incredible challenge with the language barrier. I have known of some guys here for close to a few years that have never had a Korean girlfriend. After all you hear in the west about Aisan chicks liking western guys, I was a bit surprised. I've done ok. But many haven't. Not sure about the Korean wife thing. The temperment seems a little overdramatic at times. Just my impression. |
Yeah I've been here for 3 years now and never had a Korean gf, not from a lack of trying mind you. Last K girl to shoot me down didn't like my darker skin and would've dated me if only I were white. Sad but true. |

I met my first K-boyfriend back in 2003 in Valdosta, GA at the library while we were both studying. We hit it off and went out for our first date that night. We were together for 4 years... thought we'd get married, but it never happened.
Then a while after breaking up with him, I started dating a korean guy I met through my ex (they were somewhat distant friends). I was with him for about 5 or 6 months. Thought I would marry him, but it all bombed and I got burned pretty bad. Definitely the worst relationship ever. Maybe I'm just bitter b/c it ended in the past month.
Gotta love the Korean guys though (of course not all, esp my most recent ex)! So much respect! And they put up with so much shit! ^^ |

I met my K-gf at a dance club. She was celebrating her friend's birthday and was really drunk. I ended up convincing her to go home with me and no we didn't have sex. When she woke up the next morning, she was ashamed of herself and told me that it was a huge mistake and that she had to immediately leave. She said she didn't want my number and that she was just drunk the night before. Anyways, I persuaded her for her number because I thought she was one of the most beautiful girls I had ever seen and got her to go on a date about three weeks later and even that didn't go well. It was a very strange start to a relationship, but she went from not wanting to date me at all to now constantly asking me to get engaged. |

My story is horribly unromantic.....
I met her at the hospital. She was the nurse who was in charge of showing me around. She was really friendly and nice to me so on my second visit I thought I should ask her out. I waited for her shift to end and we went out for coffee. I was completely stunned when she walked down the stairs with her hair down and a little makeup on. I just thought she was a really nice girl...turned out she was a complete fox. We dated a few times......but after the initial spark, there were no more. We stopped seeing each other, but meeting her still sticks in my memory.
My future wife on the other hand, I met her on the internet. As boring as our meeting was she has become my best friend. She is the most beautiful person in my life. |
