Konkuk Students have organized a gathering for the Koreans, the police, and the foreigners who were injured or abused during the Olympic run by Chinese. They are asking for comment/apology from the Chinese Embassy.

They will be at the Embassy (near the Blue House/Palace) at 4PM on Thursday.

Don't want to stoke these fires anymore because I am genuinely, from the bottom of my heart bored of this stuff. Don't embassies generally say tsuff like 'we do not condone the illegal activities of individuals and hope they will be subjected to the laws of the land'. They can't be responsible for the actions of individuals. A few muttered sub apologies and condemnations and that will be that.

What is this, your 6th, 7th, 8th thread on the same topic? You are beginning to seem obsessed with this. Kind of 'regicide' style. You could just pick on of the dozen or so threads and add this to that thread.

I talked to my students about this topic this afternoon. I was kind of surprised. Only 2 of the 10 were up on what had happened on Sunday. The others were not all that interested.

The phrase 'tempest in a teacup' comes to mind.

Would be nice to know what happened at the Chinese Embassy. I haven't seen any reports.

Gee, your students must be playing dumb. My students were very angry.

No, not really. They just hadn't been told what to think yet. That seems to be true in most countries--people don't know what they think till the media (or somebody) tells them.

My students heard about it, but they didn't have much of a reaction to it. They didn't quite understand what the hoopla was all about exactly. Many kids don't understand politics.
