| Ok try this, first you have to clear your Ipod, so sync it but put no songs on it (uncheck all songs on your itunes). On the front page of the Ipod page in Itunes, click "enable disk use". Your I pod is now empty and thus basically an external hard drive. Leave your I pod plugged in and go to your music folder and copy it to your Ipod. Right click on the music folder and go to "send to" find your Ipod and send it there. Next uplug your Ipod and plug it into your new computer. Simply cut and paste your music from your Ipod to your new computers music folder. Install Itunes on your new computer, add the music to your library, sync Ipod as normal, you will have to sync it you your new computer. Hope this works. If you have more music than your Ipod holds you may have to do the copy and transfer several times. |

i insulted you? you're the one calling people a.s.s.holes.
please do me a favour and quote the section where i actually insulted you. because i'm having difficulty finding justification for your offensive language.
keeping on topic mate, like i said ... the routine was fairly straight forward.
the itunes folder in your 'my documents' is key. copy it to the new computer. uninstall the itunes on the old computer and you're good to go. the itunes folder contains all the xml and associated library files. it remembers all your preferences, ratings, etc. by shifting the entire folder, you fool your itunes into thinking it's the same installation.
regarding authorising/deauthorising your computer, that information is also stored in the itunes folder ... so you don't need to bother with such things.
depending on the size of your itunes folder (it may be over 50gig, depending on movies and music) you may need an external hard drive to shift everything to.
seriously, if you're having major difficulties, pm me and i'll walk you through it. (no sarcasm intended) |

dude ... the instructions were simple, no?
there's another way. it's this revolutionary concept called google. what you do is visit their site and type in a few relevant keywords. just like you used to do at your library. then, hey presto! you can find information and stuff.
jeez ... if you can't figure out the technology, throw it in the trash and buy yourself a nice 8 track. |
First, what I found offensive was you telling me to use google...as if I have no idea what that is!
Second, the whole a bit about technology...unnecessary.
I just felt your post was sarcastic and all I wanted was help. You didn't have to make it seem as I am an idiot and I don't understand the modern technological world. I do have trouble moving around computers sometimes. I am not good at IT. I did, however, figure out how to install a C64 emulator lately, so perhaps I am getting better.
My point is, when people do not have good self-esteem about working with computers, or for anything else for that matter, I don't think it's productive to talk down to them because then it makes them apprehensive to inquire at a future time. |

well, it may have been sarcastic, and for that i'm sorry ...
but i just did a google search (search term: transfer itunes to new computer) and this was the #1 return:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300173
#2 return:
http://ipod.about.com/od/howtos/a/transfer_itunes.htm
so my point about google is that these top two hits are very good quality answers to your question, without having to wait for posters to respond on eslcafe ... especially since #1 was on the apple website, i think it should be all you need.
further, i did provide a very detailed answer the first time and i also offered to help again via pm. so despite my sarcasm, i don't think the term a.s.s.hole was really warranted.
you may have been offended by my sarcasm, but you didn't waste much time jumping on your very own bandwagon too!!
good luck with the transfer.
btw, when your ipod blows up in 2 years time, i'd recommend getting a cowon. it's an awesome little machine and i'm not tied down to the itunes software like i used to be with ipods ... i can upload music and videos with a regular file browser ... the cowon also has fm radio, voice recording, a flash player (i uploaded a subway map), a great dictionary (from ybm), a picture viewer, organiser, calculator and more. |

Dave,
Yeah, lots of people say the Cowon is good. Do you suggest buying it at Yongsan? Also, isn't there are Cowon 2? I thought I read something about that on here from other people. So my question to this item is this: What I do like about itunes, for example, is this Vintage Cartoons podcast, but I think it's only available through itunes. If I still have itunes installed on my computer, could I get the podcast and then put it on a Cowon? Well, I guess it would just be put in a file on my computer so I could get it that way...I enjoy the podcasts so I think that would be one of the things I would miss. But I don't think I can get it without itunes, but if I bought a Cowon, I would obviously get rid of ipod/itunes. |

Funny enough I just downloaded Itunes onto my new pc and it automatically started to copy stuff from my music files...then ****** it closed down (not enough memory) and everything else is working dodgy.
Hmmmmmmm. |
