Is this good or bad for the foreign monkey.

Should I be sick for this day or is it good. I'm kinda funny, but not really cool enough for tv.

Aren't you a gyopo? You should be fine; just make sure you maintain the gyopoesque smile.

Don't worry about it. I worked at a high school 2 years ago and did the Golden Bell thing with them. It was a fun day with the kids and the English section I did was quick and easy.

When the show comes up in a conversation with Koreans and I tell them I did it they seem to be quite impressed (don't know why). For me it was just a fun day outside the classroom.

So if you have the chance to do it then go for it.

If you have to ask questions in English make sure you also say something in American accented, grammatically incorrect Korean, just so that you don't give the TV audience the impression that KETs can speak English at your level.

Same here. I was on that show with my old school about 5 years ago. It was kind of fun, but the filming took ALL day. I was happy when they finally wrapped it up.

Yeah, I did it last year and it took hellishly long. I was incredibly bored, but was happy the kids got to be on TV.

I always thought that mikekim was a foreigner whose name was just a play on the all the Kims in this country.

He must be, given how touchy he was in another thread about Kraft Dinner.

I did the English component of a Golden Bell last year.

They drove me to the gymnasium where they were filming, gave me lunch, spent about 15 minutes shooting the bit I had to do, which was a twenty questions type of game and then I was free to leave. All up, and including transport, it was about 2 hours out of my day.

I personally enjoyed it but, the fact that it was not actually my school may have made a difference. It seemed like it was a long day for the Korean teachers I spoke to that were there all day.

I wouldn't worry too much about it if you are just doing the English bit.
