Just that...

where is the best place in Seoul to buy R4 Chip For Nintendo?

I promised somebody a Nintendo for a birthday gift in 2 weeks time -

but the games are expensive - where is the best place (perhaps with directions) for me to pick up a R4 Chip For Nintendo?

R4 is hard to find and getting more and more expensive as a result. I bought a DSTT with a 4gig chip for 60'000원 off gmart. I've loaded about 60 games on the chip including one released less than a week ago and everything is working great. http://www.gmart.co.kr/

Thanks - I did already try Gmarket.co.kr

It was my first time to register with Gmarket - and I tried to purchase a R4 chip there - (they had many 50,000 ~ 70,000)

however Gmarket was too difficult for me to use - it made me download ActiveX so many times -

and I tried to pay using a "Samsung credit card" but I only got to halfway through step 2 of the processing thing...

It asks for so much information - card number, secret number of back of card, card pin number, address/phone, cellphone number etc etc

I got stuck when it was asking me for some "Cellphone message code"...

Who knows what a Cellphone message code" is?

so I went to Yongsan today - and picked one up for 80,000 (yes - I know a little expensive) - but they did throw in a nice nintendo case/cover for free...

Yeah, I have a Korean friend place the order for me using their Gmart account. Then I just transfer the money at an ATM.

Hey,

I'm thinking of trying to grab one of these things (along with a Nintendo DS) as a gift to the girlfriend...I could head to Yongsan next weekend to try and find one. I was just wondering where in Yongsan you found the R4, or where else I could find one?

I'm also wondering what sort of price I should be paying for a Nintendo DS these days?

Ta!

If you go to "video game alley" in Yongsan, almost every vendor has R4's for sale. I think they run about 60,000.

Do those prices include the SD card that actually goes in the R4? The best deal I've found on GMarket so far is the R4 and 2 gig SD card, delivered to my door for about 70,000. Genuine R4 too I think, not one of the (it appears, many) rip offs.

Yes - the one I bought at Yongsan came with both the SD card that goes in the R4, the R4 chip and the USB thingy - it was 2GB. (80,000won).

Gave it to "the student" Saturday with the nintendo (birthday gift) and found out that the R4 chip was already fully-loaded with all the games. (about 50 popular games).

Apparently good buy.

F the R4.

I was at Technomart and I got a DS TT card (same makers as R4) that uses the high capacity micro SD.

DSTT Card + 4GB card = 80,000w. Its in the Technomart around the 7th or 8th floors. The first guy I talked to quoted me 100,000w. I said no thanks and kept asking around.

Go around the booths that display consoles, games, etc... Ask for "DS Chip".

Sure it's in Korean and they load a crapton of Korean games on it. All I did was go to the DS TT website and downlaod the latest English software and copy it over.
