Local news coverage of the Nevada Republican convention:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJVjC0hXkFY

McCain may be hanging on to the nomination with the help of the corrupt neocon leadership of the Republican party, the grassroots INSIDE the Republican party are turning against him and the neocons, state by state.

Remember, the actual delegates to the national convention have not yet been chosen. If honest open caucuses and conventions were held in every state, Ron Paul would win the nomination in Minneapolis in September.

Ron Paul has faded away into nonentity status these last two months or so. I hope the Republicans shut him out entirely of the convention.

And this...

The qualifier "stunning" does not go with "16 percent," Ontheway. This represents runaway wishful thinking, at best.

The headline:

"April 23, 2008
Ron Paul Achieves Stunning 16 Percent "

comes from the LA Times, not me:

"Ron Paul surges in Pa. [LA Times]"

Meanwhile, the important thing is that the actual grassroots of the Republican party, as seen this past weekend in Nevada, is turning toward Ron Paul overwhelmingly. Ron Paul was on his way to winning a minimum of 22 of Nevada's 31 actual delegates, that is, the people who will really go to Minneapolis, so the state party convention chairman walked out and turned off the lights. He promised to reconvene later (after he figures out some way to cheat).

From the LA Times Blog:

Ron Paul's troops quietly take over some local GOP groups

If anybody thought the Ron Paul Revolution had expired, they need to rethink that one.

Clearly, the 72-year-old libertarian-minded Texas representative was not going to win the Republican Party's nomination this year with his 12, 20 or 42 delegates, whomever you believe. Sen. John McCain already has enough to win the GOP nod in St. Paul in September. So Paul has taken his well-funded campaign and gone rather underground to the local level where his loyal Paulunteers are organizing and taking over numerous county party operations in several states.

Quietly, beneath the political radar of the Republican Party establishment and mainstream media, they're laboring at the local level. Last month Paul forces read the party rule book in Missouri and elected about a third of the delegates to the state convention that will pick the delegates to the national convention.

Last weekend in Nevada they drove through a rules change in the state party convention that halted the approval of pre-approved slates of convention delegates as a means to eventually substitute their own supporters to travel to St. Paul and boost Paul's delegate totals for platform and other struggles this fall.

Using sophisticated communications techniques on the Nevada convention floor in Reno, Paul supporters transmitted mass text messaging to maneuver and direct their troops. When Paul appeared to speak, the ovation was thunderous.

At other times they shouted down the convention chair, Sen. Bob Beers. Taken by surprise the convention organizers and the McCain camp, which for instance had no supply of campaign signs to compete with the blizzard of Paul signs, eventually adjourned the convention in chaos without electing any delegates.

The excuse was the expiration of the convention's contract with the host casino. No new convention date was announced. The Ron Paul crews move on to their next target.

... and more, from Maine:

April 29, 2008 - 5:42pm
Republican convention drama in the works?By Wally Edge
Category: President, LocalTags: John McCain, Hillary Clinton, Barack ObamaTop Story: Opinion
I was just faxed a copy of a letter from some woman named Charlotte Iserbyt - who is apparently a delegate to the Maine Republican convention. This letter almost makes me wish I were going to the convention!

She does not like John McCain. No, that would be too kind. Let me quote her letter:

"This letter, supported by many delegates to the Republican Convention, is literally about saving the party and the nation from a maniacal neoconservative war monger, who supports a United State presence in Iraq for 100 years, and who is not really even a Republican"

Wow, and I thought the Clinton and Obama drama was good. As much as I would like to quote the entire letter, I m pretty sure you can find most of this stuff off any Ron Paul forum. What makes this so incredible is that according to my sources, she mailed this to every Republican delegate (more than 1500) registered to attend the convention.

Ms. Iserbyt, adds this little gem at the end, "McCain has little support nationally...there are never huge rallies for McCain, unless people are paid to show up. In short, he is a media creation and the darling of the Trotskyite neoconservative warmongers who have hijacked our party"

That's sweet.

From what I hear, the McCain folks and local republican leaders are worried, very worried about some Nevada like flare up that essentially shut down the state convention last Saturday without electing national delegates. While it certainly too early to tell if this letter represents anything substantial. Republican insiders are taking it very seriously.

Rest assured, our ace reporter, Jessica Alaimo will be on the scene covering the whole affair from gavel to gavel!

Ron Paul to Speak at Montana State Republican Convention

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA Texas Republican congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul is scheduled to speak at the Montana State Republican Party Convention on June 20th.

Congressman Paul has generated a lot of support in Montana and we look forward to him coming to our state, said Jake Eaton, executive director of the Montana Republican Party. There is an unprecedented level of excitement across the spectrum of the Republican Party and Congressman Pauls visit will add to that.

Dr. Paul excites tremendous passion with the people of Montana who are hungry for personal freedom and constitutional government, added campaign spokesman Jesse Benton.

The Montana Republican Party State Convention will be held June 19th-21st, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Missoula. Paul came in second place behind Mitt Romney in the February 5th Montana Republican Presidential Preference Caucus with 25% of the vote.

Montana is another state where Ron Paul could take it all. Romney has dropped out, Ron Paul should have a large share of delegates to the state convention already, and McCain has little support. After the Republican party grassroots has a chance to read Ron Paul's new book and hear him speak, Ron Paul could win most of the national delegates.

In short, the delegates have not yet been elected. State by state, the grassroots of the Republican Party are turning to Ron Paul. If the neocon conspiracy holds, McCain will be the nominee, but the Republican party non elected core of grassroots activists who donate, support and work for the party and its candidates do not support McCain. They are turning to Ron Paul.

Nope, it's most certainly not done. Ron Paul's goal is to change the GOP and their philosophy, which doesn't necessarily require that he become president. That's what most people don't understand, and why they keep scratching their heads wondering when he's going to drop out. Since he aims to change the party's (and the nation's) philosophy, there's no reason to.

The other candidates are much closer to each other in terms of liking big government, military jaunts in foreign countries and so on, so when one of them drops out they can start negotiating for positions in case McCain wins the White House. VP, secretary of something, etc. That's why they dropped out to support him (or they were just tired and wanted to do something else).

He'll be making a stop at the College of Idaho as part of his Hope for America Tour Freedom Rally. The event starts at 4 p.m. and is open to the public.

There is no cost for the event. Paul's visit comes one month ahead of the Idaho Republican Primary.

By Peter Neumann
Watch the story FORT WAYNE, IN (Indiana's NewsCenter) --- Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul will bring his campaign to Fort Wayne Monday.

The Texas Congressman has stayed in the race to take his message of limited government to the people. He says he is the only conservative in the race.

Paul told Indiana NewsCenter's Corinne Rose that he'll stay in the race as long as the support and finances for the campaign hold out. He says it is essential to take the message of reduced government to the Republican National convention.

He says even though he is overshadowed by Republican John McCain, he says his message will bve heard on the convention floor.

Paul will hold a rally at IPFW's Auer Auditorium Monday at 7 P.M.

Ron Paul delegates had been chosen for 4 of 6 slots where the counting had been completed, and 3 Ron Paul delegates were among the top 4 in chosing the next 3 spots.

Ron Paul had won for of six and was going to win either 2 or all 3 of the next group of 3. That is why the McCain, neocon conspirators shut down the Nevada convention.

McCain does NOT have enough ACTUAL delegates to take the nomination yet. They can only hope to win by cheating.

.....Ron Paul Nevada Delegates Voted to National Convention Before Recess

RENO, Nev.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Nevada State Republican Convention was called to an abrupt halt on Saturday, after delegates supporting Texas Congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul were elected to the 2008 Republican National Convention.

Prior to the recess, the John McCain campaign asked for and was not granted a recess to meet with their delegates. In response, Convention Chairman Bob Beers unexpectedly announced that the contract on the convention hall had expired and the convention would be reconvened at some future date. The Ron Paul campaign is confident that the Nevada State Republican Party will ensure that the votes cast by of all of the delegates at the April 26th Nevada State Republican Convention will be respected.

By the time of the recess, voting for three national delegates from Congressional District 1 and from Congressional District 3 apiece had been completed. Beers himself read off the ballots for Congressional District 1 which resulted in the election of Senator John Ensign, Danny Tarkhenian, and Chris Dyer as national delegates. Dave Gibbs, member of the Clark County GOP Executive Board who also observed the vote counting, shook Dyers hand and congratulated him on his election. Dyer is a committed Paul supporter.

In Congressional District 3, Ron Paul supporters Arden Osborne, Carl Bunce, and Elizabeth BelCastro were elected, followed by Bruce Woodbury, the County Commissioner for Clark County. State Senator Barbara Cegavske, a candidate for national delegation in her Congressional District, initialed the credential badges of state delegates as they cast their votes and observed the vote counting.

In Congressional District 2, Congressman Dean Heller was in the lead, followed closely by Paul supporters Robert Terhune, Pat Kerby, and Marla Criss. When the count was halted, the remaining (approximately 50%) of the uncounted ballots were placed into seven sealed envelopes, signed by supporters of both John McCain and Ron Paul, and deposited in a safe at the Peppermill Casino in Reno. The Ron Paul campaign obtained Xerox copies of the signatures and drivers licenses of those who signed the sealed envelopes and deposited them in the safe.

How many other Americans have donated $50 or more to the campaigns of one of the candidates running for president? It would seem to be the year to throw your hat in the ring, or put your money where your mouth is.

Oh, I'm a Canadian of course, but Ron Paul didn't cancel my donation made via Visa card, with a Canadian mailing address.

When you donate to the Ron Paul campaign you are required to fill out a form where you guarantee that you are an American citizen donating personal and not corporate or other business funds. Since many Americans live all over the world and continue to participate in the electoral process, the Canadian address was meaningless. The Ron Paul campaign received hundreds of thousands of donations and acted properly. YOU should NOT have donated. By making the donation, you violated the law. The Ron Paul campaign complied with the law.
