I finished my (non-teaching) contract last December and left the country with my ARC and didn't inform Immigration at the airport that I was leaving for good. (Though I assume my company must have informed them).
I now live in Thailand and am returning to Korea next week on business.
Question is: Will I get any hassle at Immigration upon my return?
Any possible fine etc? I don't want to give them my ARC as it's a nice memento of my time in Korea plus as a Brit I don't have any ID so show my ARC when asked, for getting into clubs & the like in Bangkok... |

No fine and no consequences as long as it is expired. |

Of course there wouldn't be any fine or consequences....you stated in your Op that your visa was finished... I was just wondering how a "businessperson" could be so clueless. |

It is a crap shoot. I left but didn't return my ARC. I came back a month after my F2 had expired. In their system it said I was still under F2 visa. I had to tell the guy I wanted to come in under a tourist visa as they should have canceled the F2 when it expired. |

Mail it home, pop into the immigration office, report it lost and get a replacement.
Unless you leave before your time is up AND you have a valid re-entry permit (or multi-entry visa) they will ask for it back when you leave.
If they ask for it back AND you do not turn one in they will fine you 100k won.

Wouldn't it be easy if we could just keep it then when we return, we have to get info changed on the back?
I didn't turn in mine when I left in December(!), so I hope I don't have to deal with it when I come back in August. But Ttompatz gave me info on it a while ago so I think I will be okay. |

Businessman does not equal expert in korean immigration laws.
Anyway aren't you the (clued-up) horses-arse that started numerous threads about how to buy a mobile phone despite living here for years? |
