Try rescuing one from a dog farm, probably not possible, but it might get you a foot out of Hell.

Go to your local vet clinics. Tell them you are looking for a dog. You could probably specify breed, gender, health condition as well. That what I did when I wanted a second dog. The vet called about a month later about a dog in a family that couldln't keep him. He was 4 months old. We paid a small sum to the family since they'd paid for some of his shots already.

Great place to start looking OP!!! Go to the ARK site!!!

My girlfriend also volunteers on occasion at a dog shelter in Daejeon. A group of foreigners goes out to this place pretty regularly on Saturday mornings.

If you'd like any info...I can PM you!!

There's also a big facebook group that does this...I can get the info from my girl.....she's actually out at this very moment getting a Jindo pup that got hit by a car....a new home!!!

It feels good to be that guy, right? Have you been saving your Korean to say that at the right time? It's been done over and over again. Razz

Don't buy one in Emart. Or a pet shop. The list of illnesses and reasons why it's a bad idea is endless, though if you're really interested I can type it all on here again, it's no problem but it's a little tiresome.

Seconding what Dongtan Tony said, PLEASE visit the ARK site at www.animalrescuekorea.org, there are new animals all the time and it's also a huge source of information on owning a dog in general and owning a dog in Korea specifically (which holds it's own challenges)

or visit the facebook book page trying to rehome the Daejeon dogs at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=5682343876

A huge number of dogs from this shelter have already been rehomed ( one example is my avatar) but there are still around 100 left. They have until the end of July to be rehomed before their shelter closes and they are sent to kill shelters. There are dogs of all ages, from new puppies to far older, more sedate ones. There are tiny ones and big, BEAUTIFUL, super friendly jindos. There are pictures on both the facebook page and the ARK website.

Don't buy your dog.

My dog from Emart was perfectly healthy. It is a Yorkie, They provided all his shots (100 000 won value), gave me a months supply of dog food, free grooming for 6 months, everytime i go there they give me service doggy snacks. If I am shopping at emart they let me kennel him for an hour or so. the list goes on.

I wasn't sure if it would be a good idea to buy a dog from emart either, but i must say the vets there and the service provided are really top notch. At least the emart near my place.
