I've heard bed sheets are not a common thing in Korea. Will I be able to buy them in Busan or should I bring my own? And if I bring mine, what size bed will I have?? I'm going to be working for EPIK. Can anyone throw me some pointers here? Thanks. |

Do you care about having a top sheet to go between you and your blankets? If not, don't bother. They have sheets they just don't include that one in the set. |

Yes. Bring sheets. When you arrive, jet-lagged and in shock, you will not feel like venturing out into the unknown to buy overpriced, substandard sheets that you won't even be happy with. You will take one look at your mattress and thank yourself for bringing 400 thread-count egyptian cotton sheets.
Bring your own, bring your own, bring your own! |

bring queen size as guaranteed you won't have a bed bigger than that; probably smaller. You can double the top ones and use in the summer for a nice cover.
2 sets will do you fine. Don't freak when you come and learn there are no dryers, you'll have to hang them to dry but they will fast enough. Make sure your school provides a drying rack; if you don't know what it is, don't worry you'll see them soon enough. Just make sure you have one.
oh, pillow cases and you might even bring your own pillow if it's a softie. Most pillows here are pretty hard and plumped up. Again, like the other poster said, not something you need to worry about your first few months.

depends on how old your hogwan is. if it's new, don't worry about it.
if it's old, then how does years of residual p1ss, sweat, dandruff, blood, puss, snot, and cuum sound to you?
hogwans are very well known for recycling sheets ad infinitum. |

I'm not sure about the new breed of teacher who are worried about bringing bedsheets with them to Korea. There's just no adventure anymore. |

I've been here several years and the teacher before me advised me to bring sheets so I'm not sure how "new" you are referring to.
and what does tolerating synthetic materials as opposed to natural ones have to do with adventure?
freakin' Africa has cotton all over - a lot, of not most, countries there would not be on par with K economically and developmentally speaking so I don't know what is your point. As a matter of fact, most everywhere in the world one can find cotton but not in this place.
finally, thanks to those who mentioned being able to find sheets at HomePlus - the OP said she's in EPIK so she may not be near a HomePlus or have trouble getting to one - also - a LOT of stores frequently will sell something like sheets and then sell out and not stock them again, ever, or the next time around it's something entirely different so if you are not already aware of that, you should be and understand sheets are NOT something one can always find easily in K. |
