Hi.

I'm a ps teacher who just started teaching after-school classes at my school in March. So, I expected to see the extra money on my paycheck that I received on April 25th. But, it wasn't there.

When I asked my supervising co-teacher about it, she said they don't pay that bit monthly, but rather at the end of the semester. Any other PS teachers had this experience?

GEPIK, teacher, eh? Every GEPIK teacher I know has the same issue with OT pay. Best some of us can figure is that they hold it back to keep you from doing a runner.

I get paid after completing all of the classes too. I think that's pretty standard.

Don't bother to call GEPIK about overtime pay. If you didn't know that Bain Dae was totally useless before calling GEPIK about a pay problem, then you will know why no one likes her.

This is because the K teachers are paid by number of students attending, and they expect you to be paid the same way. Come the end of semester, you will probably find your pay is short, due to students not turning up.

Show them the part of your contract that says you will be paid overtime monthly. They will say it is not possible. Then tell them that it is not possible for you to work the overtime. Explain that if you didn't turn up to work, you would not be paid, and that works both ways!

If they still try to screw you, ask them to clarify that you have the right number for the labour board Wink (I don't know what it is, but you can find it easily enough on these forums)

I'm pretty sure I get the standard (crap) overtime rate for those classes.

All my students are still showing up anyway. Halfway done!

I think I was told I'll get 20,000 an hour for these after-school classes.

Same for me, they are paying me when I finish 20 classes. But my after-school programs are funded by tow different sources 1) my school 2) the county. My school doesn't give me any problems - its my county that I'm worried about. I'm trying to get them to start paying upfront. We'll see how this works out.
