Is the Korean Medical Insurance Union the same as the National Health Insurance Program? If not, how do they differ? |

To the best of my knowledge it was replaced by the NHIC ( http://www.nhic.or.kr ) just after the 1997/8 financial crunch and there currently is no such organization.
IF it is listed as your insurer in a hakwon contract you can probably be assured that you will not have medical insurance other than the employer paying 50% of your bill (provided the malady was minor).
Insist that NHIC be listed in the contract (AS REQUIRED BY LAW).
