Is the Korean Medical Insurance Union the same as the National Health Insurance Program? If not, how do they differ?

To the best of my knowledge it was replaced by the NHIC ( http://www.nhic.or.kr ) just after the 1997/8 financial crunch and there currently is no such organization.

IF it is listed as your insurer in a hakwon contract you can probably be assured that you will not have medical insurance other than the employer paying 50% of your bill (provided the malady was minor).

Insist that NHIC be listed in the contract (AS REQUIRED BY LAW).
