|
|
I have a phone interview with SMOE tomorrow, what should I expect? How long does it last? What kind of questions do they ask?
My recruiter sent me a list of questions that might be asked at the interview:
Explain your education/ teaching backgroundteaching philosophy why SMOE why korea how do you handle a classroom give example activities/ lesson plansetc
Are these typical questions? |

Lasts maybe 15-30 minutes depending if you have any questions you want answered. Be prepared to explain why you want to work and live in Korea and to talk about your resume and/or previous experience. |

The recruitment schedule on the ETIS site says interviews arent until mid June but I think they started them a while ago (or at least that was how it was made to sound).
I initially contacted footprints but got a generic automated response from them so I contacted Julie from worknplay. She has been very nice and helpful; however, someone was just telling me worknplay has already filled most of their allotted spots and they only have one or two left... so your interview might be pointless. I really hope that is not true, it seems like a lie but who knows
I got a call yesterday from footprints, the guy on the phone was telling me how excited they were (about what?) and that they were ready to help me get a job with SMOE. Maybe different recruiters work on different schedules, I have no clue.
What recruiter did you use? |

I think each company gets a chance at roughly 225 SMOE positions....says so on a couple of sites. |

I used Korea Connections....found out why I haven't heard anything!
Turns out they didn't get my e-mail with references letters....So I just sent him those....now I'm waiting for them SMOE to contact me again(been about 3-4 days)....Korea connections interviewed me personally(I guess it's their standard policy) and asked me about my credentials....they seemed excited and didn't act like there was any hang ups at all(I have no teaching experience except minor volunteer work).
Told me SMOE would start interviews in May.
How'd yours go? |

Koreaconnections / Korea Connections from Vancouver claims they have 200 SMOE positions to screen for.
Does SMOE just contract several recruiting companies to find them teachers for the upcoming year but still offer the same positions and contracts?
Are the salaries and contract terms the same for teachers even though they were recruited by different recruiting companies? |

The interview was easy and the guy conducting it was really nice. It lasted about 30 minutes, the first 20 he was asking me questions and the last 10 he asked if I had any questions and told me a little about placement, orientation, and things I should know. He asked me about my experience/ tefl certification, why I want to teach in korea, and what level I wanted to teach. At the end of the interview he told me I got the job.
Did korea connections tell you when your interview is? When I had mine I knew the exact date and time, my recruiter called me a few minutes before to make sure I was ready and to remind they would be calling in a few minutes. |

Yes, the recruiters are listed on the ETIS site.

Yes, salaries and contracts and set by SMOE, the recruiters have nothing to do with them |
