Most American Koreans I know enjoy American beef and are not importing Korean beef. Do these people all have mad cow?
Can someone point me to the source of this 94% genetic susceptibility issue. Its quoted in every article but there is never a link or source. Is it a recognized science journal or Korean media reporting errrrr beefmongering. |

Korean beef sucks, that's why it's considered delicacy or something like that and they can jack up the price.
How can you tell if a Korean guy has mad cow or not when living abroad? Foaming at the mouth, random outbursts, spitting, not remembering where they are (not in Korea) etc... |

I went looking but I was unable to find even a single instance of a Korean falling to the human variant of mad-cow disease (Acquired CJD Disease).
What you see in the local press is nothing more than fear mongering. Koreans have no more genetic predisposition to Acquired CJD than anyone else.
http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs180/en/
Total cases
From October 1996 to November 2002, 129 cases of vCJD have been reported in the United Kingdom (UK), six in France and one each in Canada, Ireland, Italy and the United States of America. Insufficient information is available at present to make any well-founded prediction about the future number of vCJD cases.
http://www.cjdfoundation.org/cjdisease.html
Acquired CJD called variant (vCJD) has been identified in young people. vCJD has been linked to ingestion of beef tainted with BSE (bovine spongiform encephalopathy), most cases have occurred in the United Kingdom.

I'm pretty sure any Korean that's clever enough to haul ass to the states isn't mad.
I can't comment for the Koreans that stay and throw shit at beef though. Maybe they suffer from Mad Kimchi Disease. |
