Dependant on your nationality, 14 or 30 day visa waiver stamp on arrival.

30 day VOA at the airport.

Maximum of 90 days in one given year (if they are enforcing that or not still I don't know)

What do you want to do?

What do you want to see?

What is your budget?

I recommend Munork resort it's pricey about 5,000B for 3 days but it's nice.

if you just want to see temples etc then go around BKK.

Kanchanaburi is 3 hours east of Bangkok.

Pattaya is 90km away and an easy bus journey.

I would like to go to a small town/island and lounge around on a beach for a couple days, then I want to spend 1 or 2 nights in BKK.

Basically I just want to relax. I plan on going back to travel around more, but for now just a beach sounds good.

In BKK, I'm hoping to find some cool clothing shops where I can get unique asian clothing....

Pattaya - quick and easy.

Go to the eastern bus terminal.

Get the Pattaya bus there - 100B or so for the ticket 2 hours on the bus and in a beach town.

Perhaps in horrendous traffic but it's quite possible in under 2 hours most of the time.

And, it's actually west of Bangkok. Smile

Very true it is west.

Don't think he has a car.

Prob is I arrive at 11pm at night!

Can I still get a train to Pattaya? I've decided this is where I want to go. I want a small beach town, with clubs and bars!

p.s - I'm NOT going to Thai for the sex trade...STD's aren't my thing.

Bus to Pattaya - not at that time.

If that is where you are going you want to stop on Sukumvit to get the bus.

http://directrooms.com/thailand/hotels/bangkok-hotels/sukhumvit-price1.htm

Manhattan Htoel is one minute from Ekamai bus station )Eastern bus terminal.

Call them up and ask them for a room - normally get it a lot cheaper than the 1700 on that link about 1000 - 1200

Any of the hotels on the BTS line and you can be at Ekamai in five minutes

Other option is a taxi to pattaya if you must at night but tired taxi drivers on that run are pretty scary.

I don't mind getting up fairly early to catch the train/bus or whatever, just need a place to stay when I first get there.

Wonder how much a taxi there would run me...

Sukiumvit is where the bus leaves from to go to Pattaya?

Thanks so much for all this info, wish I could find a damn copy of the Thailand LP, but no where around me sells it...I tried d/l'ing it but I can't find a copy...
