The boss's wife is always feeding me Korean food and telling me how f98king delicious it is. She fed me a hot dog for lunch one day and told me 4 times that is was very delicious. I tried not to laugh.
What are your favorite Korean foods, and what is your least favorite food?
Lately, my least favorite is samgyeopsal (too fatty), and my favorite is Kal guk su. |

Funny how i used to love Korean food before i came here. I used to travel over 1 hour just to have some Korean food.
Delicious & healthy has lost all meanings. Everything is "healthy" or "delicious" The only thing I find delicious is dwaegi kalbi or however you spell it. And only at this 1 restaurnat I know..the others are crap. |

lotteria burgers
fermented cabbage with dead squid lovingly folded in
"ajima" style braised pigs feet
mealy bugs ,fried or fresh
scraggy fatty bacon cooked on a gas burner served with extra salt dip
deep fried prawn heads
sweetened bread with bean paste lurking in it
the tiny itsy bitsy "anarexo" chicken,deep fried then reheated in contaminated oil or
anything with special protected white Korean nutrition-free rice
anything with fusion in the title( koreans boldly improving well established global cusines..yes!)
all korean food
not only very delicious,but very probably world class cuisine too!
come on world,catch up the delicious korean wave of world style cooking.

I like:
* Kimchi-Chigge (kimchi soup).
* Chicken-Dunkas (fried chicken).
* Kuh-Rey Bap (Curry and Rice)
* Seo-lung-Tang (white noodles, strips of beef in broth),
* Mul-Nang-Myun with vinegar (cold broth with ice, and noodes and veggies)
* Yeuk-Ke-Jang (beef and mushrom soup, kind of spicy though!)
* Kimpap with Kan-Jang (seaweed roll with soy-sauce)
* Gam-Ja-Tang (Pork, Potato, Veggies in a stew)
* Ja-Jang-Myun (white noodles with black bean sauce... they claim it's "chinese" food, but my chinese friends beg to differ).
* Ja-Jang Bap (Rice with black bean sauce)
* Porridge (Walnut or Pumpkin)
* Toast Sandwiches
* Pork Ribs (Grilled)
* Tang-Su-Yuk (Fried Pork, similar to sweet-sour-pork in USA)
* Sam-gyu-tang (Chicken Soup with Rice)
* Jap Chae (Long sticky brown noodles with oil)
* Mandu (Dumplings)
I dislike Samgyupsal UNLESS... it's been smoked (like they do in Pocheon). Then it's sooooo tasty... crispy, smokey, slow-cooked.
I dislike:
Anything with red-bean-paste
Anything with seafood
Rice Cakes
Dak-Go-Ki (Rice Cakes covered with hot red sauce)
Bul-Go-gi (beef with seasonings)
sokalbigui (Beef that has been drowned in sauce and grilled)
Twegi-Galbi (pork ribs with lots of sauce)
Udon (white noodly things that taste like fish)
Jok-Bal (Steamed Pork... no flavor!)
Soon-Dae (Sausage, but with rubbery-black noodles inside)
Bon-de-gi (Fermented butterfly cocoons, boiled and spiced)

Gamjatang
Wasn't that impressed the first time I had it, but my GF insisted that I try it again. So glad I did as I love it now. I love mixing the broth with rice. Delicious. |

My hot-weather favorite is dongchimi memil-makkuksu.
Buckwheat noodles served in iced radish kimchi water with a bit of hot sauce, a sprinkling of greens, & half a boiled egg. Add a dash of sesame oil, vinegar, & mustard to taste.
Tasty, refreshing, & healthy. |

Top 3 are Gamjatang, Samgyeopsal and sundubujjigae.
A small place near where I used to live in Guui made the best sundubujjigae I've ever had, and I make trips back there just for that. Thick, spicy, with a big mandu and the egg thrown in at the perfect time so the yolk is still runny. Unfortunately nothing in my current area compares. |
