Anybody seen this show? My wife said she saw it two nights ago with the show showing un-mosaiced faces and the foreigner (white) guy being asked to come onto to the show, he thinking he was going to be some celebrity.

He is shown a video of himself putting drugs into a K-girls drink with her passing out and being dragged to a car to be, essentially, raped. The camera crew knock on the door of the car and the dude jumps out buck naked with his privates masked out on the tv screen and the girl knocked out from the drug.

This, if true, sounds highly contentious. I heard from other people at work that that is fairly common in Hongdae clubs and some Apkujung clubs.

This girl apparently wanted to report the guy so bad that she claimed she doesn't care if being exposed as a victim of such a rape is going to prevent her from being happily married later. The show shows either the same girl or another girl passout drunk on the street another night, I guess to give "balance" to the show and not to target the "foreigner."

I came on here expecting to see a raging discussion/diatribe about this and did not, therefore, come prepared to give the show name and time/date of show. If anyone knows where to see it again, either on YouTube or on the tv show site itself, please post.

Very interested in seeing this episode myself. Being a small community of foreigners teaching English in Seoul (the guy was a teacher who has since been fired from his job, but for other reasons), I'm sure someone here knows the incident first hand too.

edit: title did show in full

What channel and what was the outcome?

Why didn't they prevent the rape?

I watched the last 30 minutes of it and was totally livid.

This was your typical poor Korean journalism. It was made to look like one of those reality tv shows with the so called 'hidden cameras" but everything was staged and acted out. The characters were suppose to be American but had European accents.

What I gathered from it, the show was about date rape which is a problem in many other countries. I just wonder why they would use foreigners to portray this type of crime. Is it something that only foreigners take part in in Korea?

I also have checked this board to see if others watched this show and was surprised to see that there wasn't a post about it.

What i do remember hearing from the narrator over and over was the words "waygook-in". Then at the end, they had a scene that resembled something like what you would see on the David Springer Show, where there was a confrontation between the victim and the so-called rapist. The host of the show was some short fat guy with long wavy hair wearing mirrored sunglasses.

This is the third show that I have seen similar to this in the past year or so and I hardly ever watch TV.

Somehow, I find that Korean media makes it very hard to have a favorable opinion of Korea.

I should also add that my opinion of foreigners in Korea is not so good after seeing their behavior when they are out drinking. I know that it's only a small group but we have to remember that we are an easy target.

Do you remember the show name, broadcasting station, date, time? Any of this information will help me to find the show (I could probably get one of my college-age former students to do it).

I'll see if I can get a youtube version on here or a link to the web site with the rebroadcast on line--something.

I suspect that the show is very biased, although I would like to see it first. It seems inflammatory, if nothing more. I am sure date rape is more prevalent here than people would know or admit.

I agree with the previous poster that focusing on just one foreigner seems odd, either he was very very gratuitous in his number of victims or date rape is only a phenomenon of the expat crowd (a ridiculous contention). Unless the former is established very clearly, I would be disappointed about the journalistic credibility of the "show."

I think it's on now. 신해철의 데미지. I'm watching "Foreign Teacher and Club Girl." Two Eastern European guys are pretending to be Americans. They bring her back home. First there's a reneactment. Then they switch to studio, where the accented Europeans fight it out with the young lady. She's a good actress. Now there doing a hidden camera stuff that sure looks like a set up to me. It's very much like Scandal.

There's a short, greaseball host who really needs a haircut. He wears cheesy 70s sunglasses, the big ones with reflective mirrors. The gray pinstripe suit does him justice.

Anyway, they did make a disclaimer that not all foreign teachers gang rape and pillage--only a few do.

Bahahaha.

I'm sure it was staged. That Korean version of Cheaters was staged. You know, if you're a camera guy and you see a guy putting drugs in a woman's drink and then taking her to a car, you're going to stop them the second he tries to take her out of the bar. End of story.

Just watched a few minutes of it. They are really going for the uneducated, low self- esteem, lowest common denominator with this garbage.

are you describing korean men,perchance??

they are now 'losing" so many women to other nationalities that its driving them to their media lie fest.

One actually sees many korean men dragging totally out of it on soju/beer young ladies(who can hardly walk) off to the motels/parks/cars etc..its a very common sight.most women here,if you get to know them well, will tell you they have been sexually molested at some point in their lives.

Maybe it's like documentary crews filming seagulls attacking baby turtles. Or if your integrity lets you fake this stuff why would it stop you from letting the real thing happen? But yeah it sounds all made up. Isn't there some kind of media complaints body here?

I was watching Scandal, it was funny. The woman runs into her apartment, with the camera crew. She's fighting her man, she knew before running in he was banging another woman.

I noticed that she and all the camera crew had all their shoes off. Yeah I'm sure if I'm in a hurry the first thing I'm going to do is make sure my entourage of 8 people take their shoes off before finding my hubby doin the nasty with the babysitter.

What is even more stupid is that foreigners willingly act out this tripe for the cameras, knowing full well it will be used against them- for 30.000W an hour.

I think you're watching a new show from the same program. Maybe they are having a real go at how some foreigners behave in Korea.

Let them amuse themselves as it really reflets more badly on them, the producers.

That's what you get wasting your time sitting in front of a TV.
